Dad Reacts to ROSALÍA - MOTOMAMI

Dad Reacts to ROSALÍA - MOTOMAMI

Comments

Since y’all have been venturing into music from other countries/sung in different languages, I would like to recommend Racine carreé by Stromae. It’s a French pop album and it’s fantastic.

Corinne

You guys have to see when she forms a human bike with her backup dancers on this tour for “Motomami”. It’s insane how cool and innovative they do it!

Daniel Aguirre

Kevin would love Rosalia - Los Angeles ! Her first big project, very different from this.

Matt Negron

Juan Gabriel! He is a powerhouse of a voice and if you like Julio you'll love Juan Gabriel

Sabrinna Soledad Briseno

Can you guys please react to Chemtrails Over The Country Club by Lana Del Rey please!!

Cheyanne Tyler

You need to listen to Kali Uchis start with the Red Moon In Venus album would be a great intro to Kali

Carlos Novia

Rosalia imo is the best song writer and singer in the industry right now the moment i heard her voice i fell in love

Cyrus Hiraldo

Yes! El Mal Querer is NECESSARY🤩

A

I WOULD LOVE A REACTION TO THAT. IT’S A MASTERPIECE!

A

loved this! If you guys could listen to bon iver by bon iver, that would be incredible.. 🙋‍♂️

Pascal Ziehe

loved this! If you guys could listen to bon iver by bon iver, that would be incredible.. 🙋‍♂️

Pascal Ziehe

agreed, I'm surprised they haven't done any Big Thief or Adrianne Lenker yet, Kevin will love the lyrics especially

johnnnyy

I vote Kali Uchis next for a Spanish/ bilingual album! Red Moon in Venus is probably my favorite! Some features, good lyrics and I think yall will really like her sultry way of singing. Orquídeas is more Spanish heavy but either would be good intro into her discography🤞🤞🤞

Bianey

Same 😭😭 I thought it was just her cute little accent while she counted 😂

Bianey

You guys would love YHLQMDLG by Bad Bunny - probably his most experimental album before DTMF but does not fail to make you move. Insane pandemic album.

Ramon Reyes

I noticed that lately when i listen to your channel i have to put the volume to the max as i can barely hear you. This doesn't happen to other channels 🤷🏽‍♂️ is anyone else experiencing this? Love the reaction !! Practice ypur Rs 🤣 your get there its easy. Also is RoSalia not RoZalia ❤️

Claudiu Ralea

Same here hehe

Daisy Abundis

Totally agree!!! Best summer time album of all time

Daisy Abundis

AHHHHH I JUST SAW THIS FINALLYYYYYYY

Coco

Small correction: On the track Bulerías, you said the background sounded like a guitar or something like that. A very common mistake for somebody not very familiar with Spanish and flamenco culture, I think it's a mix of flamenco clapping and the "cajon flamenco" (I believe the translation would be flamenco box or something like that; look it up if you want to), a very common flamenco percussion instrument that consists of a box that is tapped by the musician to make this sound. Great video, I love your reactions. I hope you make more spanish albums in the future. Love from Spain

Alan Rabinerson

Should listen (and mentally transcend) to Big Thief - Dragon Warm Mountain I Believe In You

Justin

Hopefully more Paramore soon, possibly Brand New Eyes. Also if you want to keep exploring Hispanic artists, I recommend Natalia Lafourcade's De Todas Las Flores, Musas 1, or Hasta la Raíz. Cultura Profética's La Dulzura for some reggae. Mana's Sueños Líquidos for rock. Or Bad Bunny's Verano Sin Ti 💜

Gabriel Diaz

clipping has GOT to be next

joshua

FINALLYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!

gabriela

you guys have to do un verano sin ti before summer or as it approaches bc it is the PERFECT summer album , it translates to "a summer without you"

Rocio R.

they would love the outro:tear & their lyricism sooo much

Rocio R.

Data by Tainy pls

Brian Calle

Severance finale was peak

Will you be covering the new Black Country New Road record coming out in April? Very interesting sounding without Issac, but hopeful for another grand record

Sean Quinn

Please have Connor react to The New Sound - Geordie Greep. Absolutely love that record

Sean Quinn

Please! Orquideas by Kali Uchis, such a good album!

Diego Sandoval

You should react to Selena Gomez and Benny Blancos new album I said I love you first!

Mariah B

REACT TO EQUUS ASINUS by Men I Trust, a very chill album that goes by super quick for a 44 min album with 14 songs.

Mateas

REACT TO CHANGES BY Justin Beiber!!

Sidney Ramon

Mariana Ronquillo

BODHIRIA BY JUDELINE PLEASE! production is so good

Remi López

Jerrad Schumacher

J Balvin - Colores is def worth a listen

Jose Ballesteros

vete alaverg son papá y hijo no críticos también hacen reacciones a artistas k son puro fuckin vibras xq no pueden hacer los mismo con este género

Omar Machado

I’d love to see you do some Korean language music on the channel. It’s the obvious pick, but I think BTS would surprise you - Love Yourself:Tear would be my suggestion. Or Agust D’s D-Day/RM’s Right People Wrong Place are both incredible!

Lea

For sure Bad bunny un verano sin ti!!!

Sultan Abul

I’ve been saying this for a while ‼️

Pablo Esquvar

Santiago Valdés

Faris Alkishi

This one is so good!! best latin producer

Gael Ortega

Gotta do DATA-Tainy

Remi López

When this album came out I had to drive from Dallas to Houston for work. It was this and Charli’s crash (both came out the same time) for 4 hours. It holds such a special place in my soul.

Peyton Fowler

Ahhh !! Thanks ! - K

TTT

Hi guys, to all the people of Spain and Latin America we are very happy that you bring this kind of reactions to the channel so thank you, in addition to Rosalia's previous albums you should react to "El Madrileño" by the artist C Tangana, Rosalia started her career with him and they worked together for a long time, I'm sure you will love that project

LITTLE F

On Chicken Teriyaki "Como Julio en los 70'" "Like Julio in the 70's"

BuenosAires CityVibes

Oh I missed that! What track was that on ? - Kev

TTT

Rosalia's El Mal Querer next to put your dad in more context.

BuenosAires CityVibes

Crazy his father names Julio Iglesias at the end of the video and he is referenced by Rosalia on the record too.

BuenosAires CityVibes

It was a coincidence, she is refering to the movie.

BuenosAires CityVibes

Ellos reaccionan a gente que hace arte, Feid y todos esos no entran.

BuenosAires CityVibes

ROSALIA IS THE MAIN PRODUCER ON THE RECORD, I THINK YOU NEEDED TO KNOW. SHE IS A GENIUS.

BuenosAires CityVibes

Rosalía’s second album “el mal querer” is a most 🤌🏻

Ronal Carranza

Bad bunny un verano sin ti!!!

Michelle Santana

Yes!! Was scrolling the comments to see if anyone had mentioned it. I think it was on that interview that she described the album as a collage, which perfectly describes it imo

Joana Pacheco

in terms of more Spanish album recs, honestly...more Rosalia. Specifically El Mal Querer. While it is true that Motomami is a stark contrast to her earlier traditional, carefully studied flamenco work, I think El Mal Querer (which directly precedes Motomami) already showed pop-tendencies in how she blends hip-hop sounds and flamenco, so those of us who were following her closely were not in TOTAL shock when Motomami came out. El Mal Querer is an exciting and innovative record that put her on the international map (it is as critically acclaimed as Motomami, though Motomami is prob more of a fan fav) and taking it in the context of her discography one can see a clear bridge between her earlier work and Motomami. also, if you can believe it, El Mal Querer was her final project for the music school she was attending at the time (imagine your final thesis making you famous lol). The album's concept is based on the anonymous 13th-century Occitan novel Flamenca, but Rosalia reframes it within a modern feminist perspective. i understand if yall want to diversify with other Spanish artists for a while, but I def think this one should be on your radar, both because the art is great in and of itself, but also because you would gain better perspective about where Motomami is coming from. okay, done with MY thesis--love from brooklyn, Juan

Juan

this album has made a tremendous impact on me

otinauj

https://youtu.be/faYPMQS1lmo?si=inO_fOp0C5-qwd0m Dads gotta watch this in his off time, she is another level performer

BeenConcerned

regarding the needles in "G3 N15": Rosalia is painting a picture of contrasts of what Los Angeles is like, describing it as a place where there are both stars (famous ppl, and the stars of the Hollywood Walk of Fame), as well as syringes (drug addicts). There is some room for interpretation here, but I believe she is using this imagery to illustrate the vanity and danger that comes with fame (the vanity of becoming blind to the suffering around you, and the pitfalls of drug addiction that often come with rapidly becoming a young star). Rosalia ends the song with her grandmother's voice message to create one last contrast in retaliation of the cultural decadence she sees around her: in doing so, she is choosing God and family, those values which preserve her moral compass and keep her grounded in the midst of blowing up as an artist. in a previous song, "La Fama" she similarly resisted fame's snare, stating: "I will sleep with her [Fame], but I will not marry her"--in other words, Rosalia is enjoying the ride of her success, and recognizes its fleeting beauty (see final track), but she is adamant in not losing sight of what truly matters. this is a top 10 record for me, so happy you all have finally got around to it!

Juan

Thank you for this! It's such a great album cause it keeps surprising you. Rosalía's always said that whatever style or genre her albums are it always comes from a pure love for music, not from chasing charts. I think you can hear it, and also her curiosity to try new things! (Some people criticized her for not "staying true" to the style in El Mal Querer/Los ángeles, even more inspired by the traditional Spanish music like flamenco.) Also love how Bulerías is sonically kind of most similar to her older stuff and at the same time she sings about having her own style, no matter what other people may say. About G3 N15, I've always took the needle part as Rosalía talking about being in LA ("place where I wouldn't take you", "marble stars cut into the floor") and then telling about these negative things she associates the place with (like "nobody is at peace", "needles in arms" etc.). Maybe she's also meaning to say that entertainment industry can be a lonely business? PS. For me, Weeknd did a good job with his Spanish! You can hear he's not a native speaker but it doesn't stand out too much.

Julia

I signed up for the bad bunny album reaction and I just jumped a tiny bit when I saw that you did Motomami! I'm so happy I agree with the other comments - definitely check out Kali Uchis and Tainy's DATA album! You already got a glimpse of his work in Bad Bunny's album. In EoO, at the end he shouts Tainy out.

crystaliitatis

THIS IS LITERALLY MY SUPERBOWL

Isabella

omg i loved that interview. the way she made the album so complex yet simple musically is so insane

Isabella

I am glad that Bad Bunny opened the gates to more Spanish reactions from you guys. Love this! Will you guys also be checking out Un Vereno Sin Ti? Highly reccomand it!

Akash Kapoor

El mal querer is very needed!! you guys 100% won’t be disappointed

Guille

Fucking finally 😩🔥🔥😭😭😭😭

BeenConcerned

Great to see you guys cover another hispanic album. Some other great suggestions from others here, but I think Kali Uchis would be a fun artist for you to cover with her toes both in Spanish and English, and collaborations spanning from other massive Hispanic artist like Peso Plump and Karol G, but also crossing over with artists like Tyler, the Creator, Don Toliver & Steve Lacy.

Andres Groves

Omar Machado

yes!!!!!!! love this album so much, endlessly replayable

j✰

The weeknd did great in spanish except for the pronunciation of the l in ella

Noah Kahan

I had no idea that the opening sample on Cute (not writing out all those Us) was a sample from a TikTok! Nice tidbit, thanks for the education 😂🫶🏻

Wes

Guys keep in mind “el mal querer” is not as slowpace or meditative as “los angeles”. Remember all three projects are completely different. Rosalia is known for changing completely in every era. I’d be so happy if you guys reacted to el mal querer, as it is a very deep conceptual album narrating an incredible story that even has plot twists in it

Víctor Reynoso

it also was her masters thesis at uni, if i remember correctly, which i think is really cool

Yeet Yeet

please do a james blake reaction!

David

I love this album ❤️ what a lovely surprise

Sultan Abul

This is amazing, i can‘t believe it 🥰

erik

The Motomami album and the Crash album by charli xcx released the same day. In CUUUuuuttte in the “ABC” part of the song she says C for charlie, angeled crashed… (roughly translated) she could be referencing charlie’s Angels. OR charli’s angels aka her fan base’s name! Kinda interesting to me.

KN

36:11 laughed so hard I start chocking on my burrito😭😭

Gabriel Cisneros

please react to titanic rising from weyes blood 🙏🙏🙏

syahmi Wahyuni

Mexico is the next stop. I recommend Latin Mafia - Todos los dias todo el dia

Ruben

As people said before you should listen to DATA by Tainy. It completely changed my view of Latino music. Also Arca’s projects are amazing but can be really hard to get into

Claud Tiedemann

100% agree they should listen to DATA

Claud Tiedemann

you guys are on a rollllll. signed up for the bad bunny album couple of weeks ago and when i saw the notification for this reaction i dropped everything i was doing to watch. PLEASE, the next Spanish reaction yall NEED to listen to DATA by Tainy. Tainy (pronounced like the word tiny) is a legendary puertorican producer that has been in the game for decades producing songs for household names in the Latino industry. DATA is some of the best production ive heard in latin music and what tainy did with the artists is parallel to what metro did for his albums (get all of the big names hes produced for and put them on an album) anyways great stuff guys love the content!!!

Nathan Mendez

YEEES

David H

Yayyy I’ve been waiting for this

Angel

as a spanish speaker, abel did a great job with the pronunciation!! its also not his first song where he sings spanish!! the other is called HAWAII with maluma and he was diligent with both! 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Bianey

Lebron James

taking a long shot, maybe you guys will enjoy this in your personal time. Other great music not in English, Austrian rock band Bilderbuch. Their albums from SCHICK SCHOCK onward are some of the most forward and inventive sounding rock music of the last decade.

Freddy Magana

😂

TTT

KEVIN & CONNER INVITED TO THE CARNE ASADA!!! 😭🙏

Melo

at 52 mins, the translation wasn’t clear for the lyrics but Kevin is right, the lyric is spanish is “hay picos en las estrellas, hay picos en los brazos” referencing drug use via needle

J

Yay!! So happy you guys reacted to this album! Btw the song G3N15 where she references needles is about how she doesn’t want her young nephew to come visit her in the states (LA/Hollywood) while she’s working on this album. She says she doesn’t want to be in the US either but has to be - this is because of the pandemic and the artists she was working on this album with are all based in LA. But the song makes references to LA celebrity culture and how everyone is on drugs and she doesn’t want her nephew to be anywhere near it.

paola

You guys need to listen to el mal querer. It is truly an experience. Her previous record was very deep and was navigating through a story of womanhood and resilience

Víctor Reynoso

Been waiting for this day. I knew Kevin would love. It’s so his speed.

atthe.eve

I USE TO PRAY FOR TIMES LIKE THISSSSSS!

Briana Padilla

THANK YOU SO MUCH! ❤️
