As a Latino I love Bad bunny and seeing people from different cultures enjoy his music, it gives me satisfaction and pride. There are some details about Bad bunny's music that you missed though, but mainly I want to tell guys about Tainy, this album's main producer and also every other Bad bunny album. Most of the Bad Bunny songs are produced by Tainy. This producer is also from Puerto Rico and he started already producing for the big leagues when he has only 15-16 y/o. He hasn't stopped since. He is consired the best producer in his genre. I think it is absolutely proper to say that most of the latin artists that complete the urban genre wouldn't be what they are if it wasn't for Tainy, he revolutioned the game for us Latinos. Some people call him the spine of reggaeton, because he holds the genre as if it was a body. Well, I'll let you get more into him if you want, i highly recommend it. If you do so, you have to react to his only album named DATA. It's produce by him and he collaborates with artists mostly from Puerto Rico. I would love to watch you two reat to this album and listen to his sound. I hope you read this comment and thank you in advance.

2025-07-04 19:42:48 +0000 UTCThis is one of those pieces of art that makes me wish i could take a pill and learn an entire language. I can understand Spanish on a conversational level, so still had to look at some translations for this album. My high school Spanish teacher used to tell us that one of the best ways to learn a new language and actually speak like a native speaker (slang, dialect, accent, etc) is to listen to music, watch movies, tv shows etc. I can say in my personal experience it’s such a great tool, and helps you to speak and understand more naturally instead of having to translate in your head before saying something out loud. HIGHLY recommend trying to write the lyrics down from memory in Spanish and English, it’s insane how quickly you can learn things like the rhythm, inflection, and accentuation of the language. Also there are certain things that just sound better and more meaningful in other languages, especially in Spanish. English is a boring and dry language compared to Spanish.

One of the themes of the album is the preservation of Puerto Rican culture within Puerto Rico, as the island is currently undergoing a gentrification since it's a US territory. He released a short film along the album and part of the visuals features an old man going to what was once a local cafe on the island and he's trying to order something traditional that he grew up on but the cafe has turned into a sort of Starbucks and the lady at the register keeps telling him "sorry we can't do this" or "sorry I'm not familiar with what you're asking for" and although she is Puerto Rican, she is young and she's too disconnected from her roots. It's pretty sad to imagine getting old in your native country just to see the youth losing their cultural identity

2025-03-09 04:45:10 +0000 UTCoh also for some more recommendations, kali uchis' sin miedo album is great as well as her other stuff. im not mexican, but some staples for most hispanics is vicente fernandez, juan gabriel, and rocio durcal. i specifically recommend listening to juan gabriel's "amor eterno" (eternal love) song written abt his mother and then afterwards listening to rocio durcal's cover of the song in tribute to juan gabriel's passing. i also highly recommend "la hija de nadie" (the daughter of nobody) by yolanda del rio !!

It’s considered the gold-standard of this new wave of Latin, urban music that blends the newer sound of today with the folklore of the artists’ respective country (Spain, in his case). You can expect mostly 808s, flamenco, bolero and bossa on that album. In reality, the biggest theme of “El Madrileño” is about 21st century heartbreak, and is presumably about his rupture from his highly publicized relationship with Rosalia. He also has songwriting credits on some of the tracks on her debut album. They made a song together called “Antes de Morirme”, which you guys should also listen to.

This album dropped right before I went on a trip to Mexico for my brother's wedding in Cancun and to visit some family in Chiapas and I loved the album right out of the gate! I feel like this album was the soundtrack to my trip and was listening to it nonstop. Idk what it is about this album, but it immediately brought me like the biggest nostalgia. And the title track "Debi Tirar Mas Fotos" became like the theme for my trip bc I mean for one, my brother was getting married, and two, I was going to see family that I hadn't seen in like 7 or so years. I love his music but he's truly an amazing artist.

If I may, not only music from Spanish speaking latin countries is great, but please take a chance on Brazilian music. I don’t know if some other people have already asked for that… but Brazil has such a wild range of genres that is hard to recommend something that summarizes it all. Tho, for a first listen, I would recommend the record called “Livro” (1996), one of the best records of one of the best Brazilian musicians, Caetano Veloso. If you want one song to give a try, listen to “Não Enche”. You’ll listen to a perfect mixture of Euro-US references like a funky guitar, with percussion from African genres. I don’t know if it is worth making a video or something, but just listen and I think you are going to love it.

I have to admit I didn't expect you guys to be able to appreciate it to the level that you did! Also, like many others have said, you guys should definitely check out Bad Bunny's whole discography (especially "YHLQMDLG" and "Un Verano Sin Ti", which are full of absolute bangers top to bottom), as well as some Rauw Alejandro ("Saturno") and Tainy ("DATA"). Those are all some of the most amazing modern reggaetón albums and I think very great starting points for anybody new to the genre.
