Blonde actually was his 3rd studio album he actually released his second album Endless which was not his greatest album but it fulfilled his contract with Def Jam. He was now independent and thats when the finesse was revealed. The very next day after Endless was released, Frank Ocean dropped Blonde exclusively via Apple Music. Blonde was #1 in 7 countries and he played the music industry keeping all the royalties from blonde for himself.

Had to join for one of my top 3 albums. Love that Kevin grooved with it so well. I think some of the added layers of Bad Religion (and forest gump to a lesser extent) also have to deal with Frank coming out (on National TV no less). That’s the extra art show aspect. Also great to show a little Nostalgia ULTRA as that has such a soft spot for me.

Kevin- I’d highly recommend listening to Mariella by khruangbin (krung- bin) and Leon bridges. Another great song with the same vibe. Also both artists have really amazing solo careers. Khruangbin does more psychadelic/ funk stuff and Leon bridges does more soul blues country. Both parties are really damn talented.

Really enjoyed taking a couple of hours to watch and listen to this along with you! I've been on a real journey with this album, coming back to it every few months for several years and it always, always gives me something new that I hadn't heard or noticed before, whether it's musically or lyrically. Blonde is great, too, but there are tracks on that album that I always end up skipping whereas Channel Orange is a joy to listen to from beginning to end.
