Best Friend Script Preview

Hello, my darlings! I bring you the script preview for the upcoming audio ☺️ For this one, I drew from a variety of my own personal experiences with girls that I’m sure others will be able to relate to haha. I thought it would be nice to do something a little more realistic and close to home for pride month!

As you’ll probably be able to surmise, this character is just an average everyday kind of person… one who is largely unaware every hint thrown her way 💀

Aaaand that’s the popcorn popped and ready to be eaten! Scooch over, there’s so much room on this bigass couch. *sitting effort* Yeah, it’s the extreme butter flavor, duh, you think I’d forget your favorite kind of popcorn? I’d have to turn in my best friend badge if I messed up on buying something that simple. It’s not like we didn’t have, what, hundreds of sleepovers when we were kids? I know how you like your popcorn, wacko.

Besides, you’d have to turn in your best friend badge well before me. *exaggerated sigh* Kinda surprised you even wanted to have a sleepover again after all this time, with how much you’ve been neglecting me lately... was starting to think you were avoiding me. *fake sniff* Homophobia at its finest, I fear.

*pause, laughs* Whoa, defensive much? Dude, I’m kidding. I know you’ve been busy with finals and then the whole college graduation thing, it’s no big deal… and obviously I don’t actually think you’re homophobic - because if you were, you’d have quit talking to me when I came out way back in high school. We stan an ally!

Anyway, half of adult friendships is just struggling to find time to hang out with each other. It’s fiiine. I’m a big girl, yeah? I’ll only ever really get concerned when you stop responding to my daily triple texts, haha. Besides, you were so insistent on this sleepover thing while your roommate is out of town, it’s not like I could have turned you down even if I wanted to. I’ll always jump at the chance to spend time with you, you know that.

*pause, clears throat* Right! So what movie did you pick? *pause, excited noise* YESSS, I love The Mummy, oh man I haven’t seen it in ages!! Literally THE gay awakening movie EVER. God, Rachel Weisz for real rewired my whole brain in my formative years… I don’t know how I stayed oblivious to what a big ol’ lesbian I was until sophomore year. Oho, I’m beyond excited to watch this again as an adult. Fantastic choice. I salute you, comrade. *laughs* Weird? Oh please, you love it, don’t even pretend. What are you waiting for, press play already! This is gonna be good.

*extended pause to denote the passage of time* (either that or insert a SpongeBob “two hours later” meme lmao)

*babbling like a nerd, all but oblivious* You know, I gotta say that movie seriously holds up even to this day, it’s just so peak. There’s something so special about this genre of movies from the 90s that modern movies cannot remotely capture. We should seriously just perform one giant upheaval on the film industry and return to our roots in order to revitalize the action/adventure genre once more - why are you looking at me like that.

*pause* Yes, you. You’ve been looking at me funny. Not even just while I was talking just now, during the movie too. When you thought I was too busy ogling at Rachel to notice you. And you got really weird about our hands touching in the popcorn bowl. So what gives? *pause, wheedling tone* Cmon, we’re friends, aren’t we? Spill.
