And here it is, the final page of my FFXIV/OC comic "The Things We Do For Love", which I started all the way back in December of 2022! Wow!

I started this comic as a way to practice dynamic poses and action, and to also try to draw more expressive characters, and I feel like it definitely did the trick. While I'm still not at the level I'd like to be with that stuff, I think I'm definitely better than I was a year ago. I also learned that I really need to streamline Kihrae and Catalyna's designs to make them quicker and easier to draw. Catalyna's action scenes were especially difficult to pull off because of that armor (her hair and coat were fun to do, though).

One thing I regret not doing before jumping into this is making proper design sheets for each character. Despite knowing Kihrae and Cat's designs pretty well, their complexity still made it tricky to keep them looking consistent without a proper guide. I was also pretty much just winging it when it came to making up the other characters' looks, too 😅

All in all I learned a lot from this comic, and over time I began to see it as a kind of prototype for a full webcomic I'd like to take on one day. I already have plenty of ideas haphazardly written down in a bunch of Google docs and I plan on starting work on it this year, beginning with concept art and writing out some scripts. I'm excited to get started!
