Seraph Of The End: Omega - Chapter 3.1
Added 2023-10-21 00:44:17 +0000 UTC"This is a warning."
It was Christmas night, and you found yourself sitting atop the roof of the brightly colored orphanage, staring out over the city of Tokyo. The city of Tokyo that was alight with flames and eerie silence beyond the barking of dogs in the distance.
You'd been awoken by a scream outside your room, only to find one of the orphanage workers laying dead outside your room, blood pouring from every orifice.
It was horrifying. And she was not the only one. Every adult in the building was dead. And now up here on the roof, you could see far into the distance and make out the corpses of many others littering the streets.
"Due to the actions of foolish humans, a deadly virus has spread."
And then there was that voice over some kind of intercom. It was echoing over the city on repeat, loud and clear, for everyone to hear.
"Unfortunately, the human race will perish."
Movement at the edge of the streets caught your eyes. And four people casually made their way down the street. Three dressed in dark blue hooded cloaks that hid them from view, while the third was a tall, muscular handsome man that filled out a pristine white and black uniform. He had tan skin, with dark red bangs that led into brown hair and a braided ponytail. Each of them were carrying a sheathed blade.

"However, we know that the virus does not infect children thirteen and younger. Therefore, we the direct unit of the Third Progenitor, Krul Tepes will take the children of this district under our protection."
...So this really was it huh? Mahiru was not lying at all. The apocalypse really had come about. And those three walking towards the orphanage. You could clearly make out their crimson red eyes even from this distance.
After Mahiru had fed you her blood, your body had become stronger over night and your senses vastly sharpened.
All of their eyes were on you. They had noticed you. Your hand tightened around the rifle in your hands. Despite what Mahiru said, you were not going to just casually trust people that would desire to drink your blood with your life.
"Why hello there," the one in white smiled up at you as they reached the orphanage, "Why don't you come down from there little man? It's dangerous for a little human like you to be so high up."
You gave the man a dry stare, "Why'd you assume that?" you asked, "For all you know, I'm a super vampire hunter. Just waiting for the chance to get close to you and cut off your head."
The red haired man chuckled in amusement, "Well, we wouldn't want that now would we?" he mused, then shrugged, "Though, sorry to say little mister super vampire hunter, but cutting off our heads won't really do anything, killing us is a little more complicated than that."
You frowned, "..That makes things difficult," you pursed your lips, "What about garlic, crosses, holy water and stakes?"
He laughed again, "All fictional I'm afraid," he shrugged, "The only weakness you humans actually got right was sunlight, but we've long since found a work around for that."
...So that meant beyond the weird sun powers Mahiru claimed you had. It was utterly impossible for you to deal with these guys.
"Fine," you let your shoulders slump in defeat, standing up, "Guess this is useless then." you tossed the rifle off to the side.
"Smart of you," the red haired vampire said and then looked at two of the vampires by his side, "You go get the rest of the kids in here." he ordered them.
They bowed to him, and then without saying a word they sprang into action. One dashed to the front door of the orphanage and inside, while the other circled around and jumped up onto the balcony.
Interesting though, was the fact that despite the absurd speed they moved at, easily capable of outpacing a racing car. You could still see them move, unlike Mahiru.
And the way cloaked ones easily obeyed the red head. Showed you there was a definite hierarchy system in place. Most likely a strength related one.
"So, can I get a second to go grab my games?" you asked, crossing your arms and staring down into the eyes of the redhead, "If not, I'm liable to shoot that guy next to you in the face."
The red haired vampire snorted in amusement, "Well, I suppose I can allow it," he shrugged, before casually pointed at the blue cloaked vampire at his side, "That is if you can back up what you just said."
....Ah crap. Maybe you shouldn't have opened your big mouth.
The red haired vampire looked at the blue cloaked one by his side, "Go up and grab him and bring him down, don't hurt the boy too much though, he's amusing." he ordered.
"Yes my lord." the blue cloaked vampire dipped his head lightly in a slight before, before turning to look up at you, eyes sharpening, legs tensing.
A moment later, the vampire launched himself into the air, a blur of speed that you could just barely keep track of.
You stepped back on instinct, hiding yourself from view for just a split moment with the ledge and grabbed the baretta knife sheathed on your belt and swung out in a slash right in front of you just as the vampire landed.
Two fingers locked around the blade and stopped your swing in its tracks, "Calm down already boy and just accept your fate." the vampire stated, glaring at you with crimson slitted eyes.
You were very familiar with the look. Mahiru's eyes were just the same, though brighter than this guys. And your own eyes, they'd always been a dark royal purple but now had a crimson ring around your pupils.
You let go of the knife and kicked out at his knee. He didn't even bother moving and you winced as you made contact. It felt like kicking a brick wall.
But you didn't stop. You made a show of yelping in pain, your right hand going to your pocket, just as a hand wrapped around your throat and lifted you into the air.
"Live stock like you should know their pla-"
BANG!
You pulled the trigger of the pistol hidden within your pants pocket, the bullet tearing through the fabric and impacting him under the chin. He'd hidden your own actions from his view by falling for the trap and grabbing you up like this.
With a gurgle, he fell to the ground and clutched at his throat and let go of you in the process, dropping you to your feet.
"Guess I win then," you smirked, rubbing your throat. Your eyes then landed on the sheathed sword at his belt and pulled it out, "Cool sword! As the winner of our little competition, I think I should get to keep this." you boasted, admiring the blade. It had a golden cross guard with some oddly open vents on it. And you could see weird thorn like appendages within it, each of them a crimson red.

The vampire below you gave a hacking cough and dug his fingers into his chin, pulling out the bullet and tossing it aside, "You trash live stock! How dare you raise your hands to your betters, I will-"
"None of that now," a hand suddenly chopped him over the head and knocked the vampire to the ground, "I told you not to hurt him did I not? Don't go going against my orders idiot." the red haired vampire who was down below was just suddenly there.
You swallowed heavily. He was as expected, far above these guys in strength. You hadn't even saw him until he was just there already thumping his subordinate over the head.
"Really, you should be ashamed, getting duped by a human child of all things and then blaming them for your own incompetence," the red haired vampire sighed, he then smiled at you, "Alright, a bet's a bet kid. You can grab what you want, but don't take any more than five minutes."
..This guy was really easy going.
"What about this?" you asked, holding the sword up.
He raised an eyebrow at you, before chuckling and shrugging, "Sure, keep it if you want kid, it's only a second class weapon, there's tons more of em around and it's pretty much useless in a humans hands anyway since you can't regenerate your blood like us."
That told you enough about their weapons though. There were tiers to them. And they were probably made by magic or something, and powered by blood.
"Cool," you grinned at him, "For a bloodsucker trying to take me captive, you're alright."
"And you're a bold and funny little brat for a weak human kid," he replied casually, "Now hurry along and grab your stuff kid."
Not long later, you found yourself bunched up into the back of a large van alongside the other kids from the orphanage. And you were not the only ones. There were hundreds of the vans, filled with thousands of kids.
Your destination? The City of Sanguinem. The vampire capital of Japan.
