Pokemon: Mega Tactics - Chapter 4.2
Added 2023-10-07 23:30:18 +0000 UTCBy time the pair of you reached Lumiose City, it was just after lunch time, at around one thirty in the afternoon. You'd kept Pidgeotto out of his pokeball to let him fly alongside Vespiquen and stretch his wings, but when you got inside the city gates, both you and Serena returned your pokemon to their pokeballs.
From there, you led Serena to your uncle's lab, the older girl excitedly taking in all the new sights around her. She'd never been to Lumiose City you remember she had told you. You'd need to take the time to show her around before you left the city behind to continue your journey.
When you stepped into the lab not long later, your eyes widened. There was a massive hole in the roof of the main hall when you stepped in, and there were huge piles of debris shunted into the corners near the entrance.
'This must have happened when those Team Rocket fools caused Garchomp to go out of control!' you clenched your hands into fists as anger filled you. If you got your hands on whoever they were, it wouldn't be pretty for them!
"Hello!" Serena called out while you were silent, "Is anyone here?"
"I'm up here!" you heard your uncle call back a moment later, and saw him walking down the stairs, running a hand through his messy hair, "You're Serena right, the girl who called the other day?" he asked.
He paused when he looked fully and noticed you, smiling widely, "Oh, Cobalt, back already?" he asked, "How'd the gym battle go."
"I won, Charmander had a bit of a tough fight but he managed to bring down Viola's Dustox in a one on one," you responded, "But more importantly, how is my Ralts?"
"She's fine, don't worry, she just had a fever, I've already given her some medicine and Garchomp is keeping an eye on her in case she needs anything, she should be better in a few days." your uncle assured you.
You breathed a sigh of relief, and Serena picked up, "Yes, I'm Serena, it's nice to meet you," she bowed her head politely, "Cobalt's told me a lot of great things about you."
Your uncle quirked an eyebrow, "He has? That doesn't sound like him," he laughed a bit, before moving on, "So, you're here for your starter pokemon then?"
Serena bit her lip, "Well, if it's possible," she said, "I ended up catching two pokemon on my way over here thanks to Cobalt. Is it still okay for me to get a starter pokemon from you?"
"Don't worry, it's fine," he waved off her worries, "There's no rules against a new trainer catching pokemon before they receive their starter. It's just generally not really possible without some outside circumstances."
Serena breathed a sigh of relief before smiling brightly, "Then in that case, I'm ready to pick my starter pokemon." she replied.
Your uncle made his way down, rifling through his lab coat pockets, "Have you decided what pokemon you want then?" he asked her.
"Yeah, I put a lot of thought into it, but my choice is Fennekin." Serena answered.
"Fennekin eh? A fine choice," your uncle nodded with a smile, producing a single pokeball from his lab coat pocket in one hand, with a pokedex in the other, "Then here you go. Fennekin's pokeball, and your very own pokedex."
"Thank you." Serena accepted the gratefully.
"Don't mention it," he laughed, "Now, you're officially a pokemon trainer."
You pat her own the back, "Well there you go, now you don't need me to get from places to from now on," you chuckled, "Well, that is unless you wanna come with me and we can travel together."
Serena turned towards you, bright smile getting even larger, "Really, you'd be okay with me dragging you down?" she asked.
"I'm all for it, the passed day of traveling together has been fun hasn't it?" you replied with a grin, "I've really had a lot of fun traveling with you."
"I bet you did." your uncle mumbled, grinning teasingly at you from behind Serena before looking away.
thankfully, the girl completely missed it as she stepped forward and threw her arms around your shoulders and hugged you tight, "Alright then, I'd love to travel with you Cobalt!" she cheered excitedly.
You just enjoyed the moment. Especially the large, doughy softness pressed up against your chest.
After Serena stopped hugging you, and your uncle took over explaining what she could and could not do as a trainer, and took the time to show her how to work her Pokedex, you made your way deeper into the lab, to the infirmary.
When you stepped inside, you saw your Ralts laid up in a bed, while your uncle's Garchomp sat beside it.
"Gar!" Garchomp smiled at you and waved her claw in greeting.
"Hey Garchomp, you doing okay?" you asked.
"Chomp." Garchomp nodded, still smiling.
"That's good," you said in relief, before turning your attention to Ralts, "And how are you? We didn't get much time to talk before I caught you."
"..Ra ralts." Ralts shook her small little hand from side to side, as if to say 'so so'.
"Well you look a bit better at least." you smiled. It was true, the red on her face had faded a lot, now there was only a little bit of pink left over, "According to my uncle you should be fine in a few days."
"Ralts." Ralts gave a small, if slightly strained smile back at you.
You reached down to your belt and grabbed one of the pokeballs, "Come on out." you said as you released the pokemon inside.
The male Ralts of the pair appeared on one of the chairs next to the bed the female was on. He quickly fussed over her worriedly, and sighed in relief after a few moments. He had a small little discussion with her, before he promptly turned around to face you, hopping off of the chair to land in front of you, and getting down on one knee, crossing one arm over his chest as he bowed his head to you.
"Ral Ralts!" he said, somberly.
Your smile widened a bit as you reached down to gently brush the top of his head, "Now now, no need to be all polite," you laughed, "I'm glad I was able to help her, and hey, it's not like I don't get anything out of this either, I got both of you as my pokemon, I'm really happy about that."
You eyed the Ralts in the bed, "I'll be heading out to continue my journey in a little while," you continued, nodding to her, "Do you want to stay here in the lab for now? Until she's better?"
Ralts looked up at her for a second, before turning his attention back to you and shaking his head, "Ralts.." he replied. He lifted his small hands and mimed punching really fast in front of you.
"Oh!" your eyes widened in realisation, "You want to get stronger?"
"Ra!" Ralts nodded.
"Alright then, you can come along and we'll train hard alright?" you said, causing Ralts to smile brightly, before bowing once again in gratitude.
After you returned Ralts and bid goodbye to your other Ralts and Garchomp, you made your back to the main hall where your uncle and Serena were.
You raised an eyebrow in interest when you noticed Serena with her arms wrapped around a familiar Fennekin and nuzzling her nose against its or rather her own, since you knew for a fact that Fennekin was female.
"Hey Cobalt!" she shouted over to you when you walked in, "Check it out, isn't Fennekin just the cutest."
Fennekin beamed in pride, "Fenne!" the little furry fire type purred and happily nuzzled against her new trainer.
"That she is, just make sure to keep her clean, she hates getting dirty." you replied.
"That's perfect then, I'm not fond of getting dirty either!" Serena laughed.
"So Cobalt, you've been going at it rather hard have you not?" your uncle mused, "You've only been a trainer for a day and you already have seven pokemon, make sure not to overdo it."
"Don't worry, I can handle it, I'll rotate my pokemon often so I can spend enough time with all of them," you waved off his worries, "But more importantly, check this out!" you reached into your pocket and produced both of your mega stones.
Your uncles eye went wide, "A mega stone!" he gasped in shock, leaning forward and eyeing it with interest, "Another one? Where on earth did you find it?"
"I put your little theory to use and found a massive swarm of Heracross in Santalune Forest," you relayed proudly, "The biggest and strongest of them all had it in his possession and I caught him and got the stone in the process."
To punctuate your point, you grabbed Heracross' pokeball from your belt and released him. "Hera!" Heracross greeted you with a respectable not and stood at your side with his arms crossed.
"Oh my, look at the size of this Heracross!" your uncle gaped at your pokemon, "This might just be the biggest Heracross I've ever seen!"
Grinning proudly, you pat Heracross on the back, "He isn't just big, he's a real powerhouse to, once I get my own Key Stone and we can Mega Evolve, he'll be unstoppable!"
"Cross!" Heracross grinned right alongside you, uncrossing his arms to pump one into the air excitedly.
"Is that so?" your uncle grinned himself as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a familiar little pink stone, "Would you like to try it out right now and see how strong your bond is?"
"What's that?" Serena asked in interest.
"A Key stone." you answered her, eyes on it.
"Oh, the other stone you said you needed?" Serena mused, she leaned in and took a look, "Wow, it's really beautiful to look at!"
You noted Heracross eyeing you from your side so you grinned and reached out and took the Key Stone from your uncles palm, "Alright then, let's try it out," you said in excitement. You handed the Heracrossite over to Heracross, "Here, you hold onto this for now okay?"
"Hera!" Heracross nodded in agreement.
As soon as you closed your hand around the Key Stone, your felt your heart begin to hammer in your chest and your blood pump rapidly through your veins.
You closed your eyes as something flared in your mind. Something burning, and blue that pulsed within your very core.
Words unbidden came to your mind, and suddenly your eyes snapped open. "Let's Break All Limits! Heracross, Mega Evolve!" you declared in instinct alone.
Bright light erupting from your fist closed around the Key Stone, forming into golden ribbons of power that shot forward and surrounded Heracross.
And suddenly, for just a moment, as Heracross' body was engulfed in light, you were no longer standing within your uncles lab, but rather, standing in a vast prismatic expanse. A world that went on forever, yet wrapped around you warmly. And the only two there were you and Heracross.
"Heraa!" Heracross began to grow even larger, the beginnings of a second horn beginning to grow on his face and a prismatic rainbow coloured symbol flared into life around the bug and fighting type pokemon.
But as suddenly as you were there, just as suddenly, you were back within the lab, on your knees panting for breath, Heracross, the light having faded from his body and returned to normal doing the same.
"Hmm, there's definitely a bond there," your uncle mused, "But it has only been a day, give it a few months and you and Heracross will definitely be able to accomplish Mega Evolving."
"Cobalt, are you okay?" Serena rushed over worriedly, placing Fennekin down and helping you up to your feet
"Yeah, I'm fine," you nodded, before grinning tiredly at Heracross, "How about you?"
"..Hera." he grunted lightly, but raised a shaky hand and flashed you a thumbs up.
