Gao King isn’t new. It’s the main mecha for the Gaorangers. I don’t know if you remember but in episode 1 Hoeru was brought to the Sentai Graveyard where he saw all of the fallen Mecha, including Boondorio (poor guy can’t catch a break). My guess as to why it awakened is that it resonated with the holder of Gao Red’s ring, that being Gaia. Unlike Osai whose regain ability from his ring just brought Daizyuzin back to life, the other ring bearers probably have to earn it. We’ll probably see more of them awaken that series’s designated mech as the show goes on.
