The thing is, the more people that know how YouTube is shafting you the more people will want to pledge. Patron is great in that they give your viewers a voice beyond likes and subs. YouTube has made it quite clear they don't give a fuck about any of their content creators that are not musicians. Patreon finally gives us a voice to say, "you deserve better."

Easiest decision I ever made. I mean I couldn’t do what I do if you weren’t doing what you do. Anxiety medicine was destroying my creativity and drive and I couldn’t function at my new job. I was following a few ASMRtists but it wasn’t until I found you that I knew I could wean myself off the meds. Now when that little anxiety troll in my head tries to keep me awake telling me "all the things that are wrong and how useless I am but all the things that I have to do and OMG HOW AM I GONNA DO ANY OF IT?!?!?!" I know I can load you up and you’ll chase him away with your soft-spoken rambles (shushing birds and buns), affirmations ("I am enough" and "Let it go"), and lullabies (I'm sure they're all lovely but I never make it past "Riptide"). Just like that, I’m off to sleep and the next day I’m ready to take on the day knowing there is someone who cares enough to make this possible. There is one troubling side effect. Some people say I’ve become somewhat of a troll at work. I think that might be your influence too… but I’m not mad about it. #smirk, <3 #lovelovelove

People who are good can feel the love you put in your videos and those of us who follow you closely, love and appreciate each of the things you do, because you have a beautiful and big heart, you care about people and their things, You are for all of us when we need you, and you are amazing in the dedication and effort you put in. You are an inspiration and encouragement for all of us who have had the good fortune to meet you and the misfortune of not having done so much before. All of us who know you, love you very very much and we hope never to disappoint you. I am proud to belong to this small club and to be part of this wonderful community that keeps inside as many good and amazing people as you.

There's no shame in politely and humbly asking for what you need. The days of abundant youtube ad revenue are gone; maybe for a little while, maybe for good. Big budget, mass appeal creators may be able to get by on ad revenue and view count, but independent, niche creators like yourself and other ASMRtists will need to rely on the devotion of your fan base more than it's size. Those of us who want unique art and entertainment need to be willing to put forward a little money. You're proud, and you hate asking, because you do it for the love rather than money. But it's your responsibility to promote yourself so that you can make what you need to keep going, for everyone's sake.
