Example Overland travel + MASSIVE Bonus Map

Like if you want more of these. Just in time for Fall, an overland travel example. You can find the dice rolls included on the Morning card, and the six Times of Day I mentioned in one of my videos.

This example would be for some well-traveled road, half a day or more outside of the nearest town.

This map features 300', as it assumes the players are mounted. Throw a hill giant token up behind the boulders, and a random or repeat NPC hiding on the other side of them. Your players will have to contend with the boulders coming their way and the muddy rough terrain at the slope. They also will struggle to get line of sight, since the Hill Giant has plenty of cover. Not to mention how to get the NPC to safety and what to do with their horses!

You can swap the hill giant out for any other big hit point enemy with a lot of range.

For DMs, you may want to refresh your knowledge of Rough Terrain, Cover, Readied Attacks (like the hill giant readying a throw or players readying attacks when they get line of sight), Mounted Combat, using the Dash action, and potentially Death and Dying.
