Gold Dragon Egg is coming along great! Five more room descriptions to go (out of thirty five!). A few of the rooms I want to go back and add some conflict too, specifically the ones with NPCs. You can do so much for increasing the difficulty of your game in RP by giving your NPCs values or goals, and putting them in conflict with both the PCs and each other.
If you don't do this, you may find that your roleplay moments feel a little flat, or your world feels a bit less immersive. As well, when you do this, you can really up the engagement factor of your players. Even though it is make believe, having to choose from two equally right choices is tough! Just think about the classic couples debate over where or what to eat on a given night. There's not really a wrong answer, but it can be a difficult choice. I love doing these sort of conflicts as well because there's pretty low risk of a TPK, and yet the game still feels hard.
I have one of my games tomorrow night (Thursday), so may not get too much more done tomorrow. After the last few rooms, adding conflict and believability to the NPCs, I also have some basic bookkeeping to add e.g. the treasure page, table of contents, and the random encounter list. Comparing this adventure to the previous ones, there isn't as much of a "twist" or "mystery", so I may do without the mystery page or replace it with something else.
Will keep you posted! After Gold Dragon Egg, I'm going to write up a few guides and elaborate on some insights from some of my recent social media "insight" posts.
Speaking of social media, will be posting either combat insights or using conflict in your game (i.e. more of what I wrote up above about conflict) next, and will record those this weekend or during the week next week.
Thanks again and welcome!
