A lot of VR software, certainly the ones I think have been the best advocates for the medium, tends to come from small, weirdo teams - Job Simulator is still more or less perfect, Gorilla Tag (even though I've never seen it written about) is actually a mega-hit somehow, and Beat Saber is a rhythm game with swords - which essentially places it above reproach. But when Polyphony Digital executes their pervert car porn in there, manifested by GT7, it's almost beyond comprehension. That was a jump I wasn't quite ready for - the FPS equivalent is Half-Life: Alyx, which is similarly shocking. When you're making a game very few people can play, you typically don't get budget. You know?
This month's newspost completely got away from me. I've been telling Jason I would have this post for him basically every day, and he has consistently been nice enough not to wrestle me to the ground and drag it out of me.
Part of it is the outsized mental occupation of the Kickstarter, which was pretty close last time I looked. I'm hoping I can crank enough advocacy over the Live Game and the Interviews Ryan has heaped upon me. I haven't really done interviews in a while, hopefully those are useful to somebody. I stopped doing them because eventually I just felt like I was saying the same things over and over, which my brain revolts against. I have whatever the opposite of OCD is; I can't do the same thing over and over again with my brain starting to itch inside my skull.
The rest of the time this month has been spent getting ready for PAX East, which is this fucking week! No doubt Jason will supply you with the profound secrets of our order, and the place of our meeting. Bring whatever sceptres you need recharged and I'll try to handle those before the Q&A.
