ES-DE 3.3.0-50 is now available for download
Added 2025-07-18 11:22:14 +0000 UTCWe're happy to announce that ES-DE 3.3.0-50 for Android is now available for download!
Note that 3.3.0-50 is simply a hotfix for the 3.3.0-48 release to address two issues found in the game importer. As such the previous 3.3.0 release notes are still applicable. The issues fixed were that ES-DE would crash if the Amazon Music app was installed and the setting "Import banners or logos if available" was enabled, and that imports failed for some apps which had special characters in their names such as colons or pipe characters.
This release brings a built-in game importer tool that makes it possible to import native android apps and games into the androidapps, androidgames and emulators systems and launch them from inside ES-DE. This tool is accessible from the Utilities menu.
The Sega Model 3 (model3) system has also been enabled by using MAME, but be aware that emulator support for this system is not mature yet so it may be a while before all these games run well. Also note that the MAME4droid 2024 emulator entries have been removed since the emulator has been renamed to MAME4droid Current by its developer. Replacement entries with the new name were added already in ES-DE 3.2.0-45. This means that you may see a warning message when starting ES-DE stating you have invalid emulator entries for some systems. You can easily resolve this by going into the "Alternative emulators" entry in the Other settings menu and change the affected systems to use MAME4droid Current.
Another change in 3.3.0 is that the "Gamelist on startup" setting has been removed and replaced with the two new options "System on startup" and "Startup view". To retain the old functionality of going directly into the gamelist view, the "Startup view" setting has to be set to "Gamelist".
In addition to the above there is support for four new languages, Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian and Portuguese (Portugal), as well as a lot of updates under the hood to modernize the application to keep it running on future Android releases.

You can however customize systems to add any emulators you want as long as they offer frontend support. But I guess the issue could occur for other people as well if their infrastructure is misconfigured. I have therefore setup a second temporary server that you may be able to use instead, you just replace packages.es-de.org with packages2.es-de.org in the URL and it should hopefully work.

But first check that the APK file is correctly downloaded, you can check the MD5 hash to accomplish that. Then, I installed vpn and connected german server. I was able to download apk on mobile phone but Not able to on retroid 5 device. I transferred apk from mobile phone to retroid 5. It's a killing process and I believe the root reason for this is your hosting server. Change the server that you put your files. As I see, current works for some users and does not for some.

I use a lot of standalone emulators and I don't like exiting ES-DE only to be greeted by a million emulator apps still running in the background. Also, I would like to be able to group alternate versions of non-CD game roms into one entry without using the folder system. For whatever reason folder entries are not sorted alphabetically with my loose game roms and simply appear at the top of my game list.

I just want it to create files and folders for the psx, instead of creating over 170 folder, to test it works first. But after going through the log file, it's always looking at the default es_systems.xml file in Android's data folder (which I don't think is even possible to look at in Android any more). Anyone else got the custom_systems folder to be recognised by ES-DE?

Apple systems ( Apple II, Macintosh ) and FM-7, Daphne ( Laserdisc ) were working previously, but they are now, since the latest update, requiring MAME4droid-Current... And TBH it doesn't work at all... Need to setup ( which doesnt work in my case )... Is there a way to point emulators Retroarch is having internally ( MAc has, FM7 not, but Daphne does ) Thank you

There are no technical limitations in ES-DE to use DeX, it's just that Samsung does not allow any apps that can be set as the home app to be used with DeX. This is a Samsung policy issue and not a technical limitation in ES-DE.

En RetroArch todo funciona correctamente de forma independiente (núcleos, BIOS, etc. están bien configurados). 2025-09-03 14:40:13 +0000 UTCHi, I'm not sure what issue you are referring to? ES-DE does not care about the SD card size you use, anything should work. There is however a theory that mounting larger SD cards sometimes is slower on Android than smaller cards and this could lead to the card not being mounted in time when ES-DE starts up if you've set it as your home app, but this is just a guess and it's not a serious issue anyway. And this is an operating system issue and not an ES-DE issue.

2025-08-03 16:25:52 +0000 UTCThe ES-DE scraper is fully multi-threaded and fetches all media files in parallel, but it does not do multiple searches in parallel as it's an interactive scraper, which I guess is what you are referring to. There are currently no plans to make a batch scraper that fetches multiples games in parallel.

A utility can be run to flag apps as hidden, game, or emulator. I always have to change default away from ES-DE when I go on app installing spree and can't run them because I have to go on this manual step of importing, then deleting what I uninstalled. It adds this extra maintenance piece that is unsavory. That would make this a quality app I would pay a lot more than $5 for.

And yes the time are installed in the proper folder, using nostalgia pro and even retroarch plays Super Mario just fine but then if I launch it via ES-DE it freezes
