How ES-DE updates are distributed

Hi everyone!

As we have received some questions about the way future ES-DE updates will be distributed we thought it would be a good idea to post about it to clarify the situation.

The way Patreon works is that if you pay for a membership and then change it to a free membership you'll get one month of access to all content. After this month has passed you'll not be able to access any locked posts.

This is the reason that ES-DE updates are distributed via email. Whenever we make a new release we will send a download link to anyone that has paid at least once on Patreon.

We will also post updates with download links here on Patreon so that paying members can get the link directly on the site. A lot of people have let us know they want to continue to support the project beyond the initial month and for this we are very grateful.

On 2024-03-30 we did send out an email to everyone with the download link to the latest 3.0.1-19 APK as a bit of a test, and in general this worked very well. We received feedback from a lot of people that they received the email. Some people did not get it though but by far the most common reason was that they thought they had used another email address to sign up for Patreon. So please double-check which address you have used when signing up and the emails should be received there.

One person reported an issue that the email ended up in their spam folder, so this seems to be very rare. Still make sure to check there. The sender of our emails is noreply@es-de.org. Finally there was one person with an obfuscated Apple address that did not receive the email. But we do not know whether this is a general issue with @privaterelay.appleid.com addresses. If you do have such an address and you are not receiving our update emails, then please let us know by sending an email to info@es-de.org. Tell us your exact obfuscated address and your real address and we'll make a manual update to the distribution list. The same is true if you have changed your email address for whatever reason, let us know and we'll update the list accordingly.

Edit: It's now confirmed that using the "Hide My Email" functionality with the Patreon app on iOS will obfuscate the email address. If you are using this functionality then please let us know your real address and we'll add that to the distribution list.
