Dark Forest Test

Hey guys!

Last post before the month ends! Okay, I had an artist commissioned to do this. Colors seem nice to the eyes - very LOL/WOW type of colors going on there, from afar it looks like a forest, but it's not what I'm looking for unfortunately. :( It's a decent attempt on part of the artist but I can't use it. If you look closer to the artwork, you'll see why.

I've been looking for background artists this past week annnnnnd it's been difficult. The first one went MIA, the second one... well, not exactly MIA, but I had some doubts about reliability... and the third one here as you can see is... hmmm...

I'm engaging with a fourth one right now with much experience with VN backgrounds, but... my only concern is, they're going to look like VN backgrounds lol!

I'll see if I can convey that painterly thing I want and if she can do that sort of thing. I'm not too into the realistic stuff for this fantasy title.

I did manage to find a style close to what's on my head for some time now:

So in case there are animated scenes that need backgrounds, I can look into this for a little inspiration.

That's it for now, I'll just write this off as helping an artist during this time of crisis! Gotta be positive!

In other news, I'm mid way through Tomone. She's tough. And I also spotted something while trying out Summer in Springtime vs. Ramen no Oujisama on an iPad Mini (latest gen) - Ramen no Oujisama runs smoother and I think I know why. Now this is all moot when we're talking about Windows on even a budget laptop. Anyone else running our games on the iOS? This is just something for me to keep in mind as I make the animated characters.

I suppose! I guessI just want something that looks good lol! The other artist's style looks simpler, but when I get to the nitty gritty of it, that will probably not the case

As to your other question, I paly on an IOS platform. I have not played the more recent versions of RnoO, however, as I have been spending more time on my own work.

If I may offer my understanding of what I hear you saying, drawn from the two examples you have shown. It appears you want reality with a soft fantasy veneer; something that might exist on the near fringe of the world of Faerie, not immediately recognized as being elsewhere. Not elves and magic oozing from every pore.
