New potential project, Chapter 01
Added 2025-08-24 12:20:59 +0000 UTCI'm going to be posting a few sample chapters of something I had been working on. This is a Naruto fanfic, but its a bit different from my other stories.
This is purely a parody comedy and should not be taken seriously in any way.
I would love to hear your opinion on this project, and if this is something you would like to read.
Disclaimer: Naruto and all of its characters belong to Shueisha and Masashi Kishimoto. I own nothing but the original characters I create.

Chapter 1: My name is…
“What did you say your name was again?”
The attractive reporter pushed the microphone closer to my mouth.
“Is Death Shadow!” I proclaimed with pride. This was a name I had come up with during my early teen years. I always wanted to name myself something cool, instead of Billy Wetson.
What kind of professional assassin would want to be named Billy?
“Death…Shadow?...” The reporter repeated the name slowly before covering her mouth and looking away.
“Cool, huh?” I smiled, seeing the attractive woman’s reaction as she was obviously flustered from being in my presence.
“It's not my real name, of course.” I had to clarify.
“I am called like that because my shadow is the last thing my enemies see…”
I said in a dramatic way. It was better to tell people that someone else had given you the cool nickname; it makes you seem more aloof.
The reporter covered her mouth again as her body trembled.
“Pfff!”
I frowned.
I could understand being a bit flustered, but this was a bit much. This reporter was being very unprofessional.
The reporter managed to compose herself and coughed a few times to hide her embarrassment.
“So, Mister…emm…Shadow. If I understand correctly, you are claiming responsibility for the murder of Douglas Pear, the one that took place last night inside his office, here in Los Angeles. Is that correct?”
“Yes, that was me. I snuck into the building, knocked out the guards, entered his office, and used my handy blade to perform the deed.”
I held up my new tanto blade for her to see. It was a Japanese blade of the highest quality. The steel had been folded over ten thousand times to achieve perfection. Or so I was told by the kind street vendor with an Indian accent who sold it to me last week.
The reporter took a step back and stared at the weapon with fear.
I stored it back in its sheath as I didn’t want to startle the poor girl any further.
“And why did you do it?” She asked with a stern face.
“I have learned that he was an extremely corrupt man who was involved in many governmental conspiracies and even made illegal deals with terrorists from the Middle East, probably for weapons or something.”
“You mean the new agreement he reached with Egypt and Iraq to sell phones in their countries?” She asked.
“Why would he be selling phones to terrorists?” I looked at her with a confused expression.
“Because…that was what his company does, they manufacture and sell phones.”
“They do?!” I exclaimed.
The organization had not given me that information…or maybe it was on the second page of the dossier.
Everyone knows the most important intel is always on the first page, so there is not much point in reading the rest. Also, they are always boring.
“Of course! How can you not know about the Pear Phones? It’s the most popular brand!” The reporter took out her phone to show me. There was a symbol of a white pear branded on the back.
I frowned. Was she taking me for an idiot?
“Of course I know about them, I have a P14 myself,” I said proudly while showing her my phone.
It was then that it dawned on me. I had just killed the creator of my favorite tech brand.
Oh no…did I get the target wrong? The ‘Company’ said that they would not forgive me if I got the target wrong…again.
But I realized something more important. I looked the reporter in the eyes and called to her with urgency.
“Miss!”
“W-What?” She looked at me with a hint of fear in her eyes.
“You think this is going to affect the launch of the new Pear 15 in a week?!”

I looked down from the top of the building. The city below was busy with all its lights and noises. Especially the blue and red lights from all of the police cars that were looking for me right now.
I still don’t know how they found me. They appeared out of nowhere while I was having my interview for the local TV station.
“What a cold night…” I said softly while pulling up my black hoodie and sitting down on the ledge.
I have been here for almost an hour and was wondering how long I was going to have to wait.
I have even been forced to call my Sensei for assistance in order to get away.
“Let’s hope he doesn’t take long…I’m hungry.”
“You should have thought about that before, you fool!”
The voice came out of nowhere, and before I could react, I felt something hit my head.
I almost fell off the ledge, but was promptly caught and tossed away toward the middle of the rooftop.
When I recovered my balance, I was able to see the culprit, and of course, it was none other than my mentor. One of the few people in the entire world who could attack me by surprise like that.
“Sensei!” I called for him with excitement.
“Stop with the Japanese words already!” He rebuked angrily.
“But Sensei!, why? You ARE Japanese.”
My sensei was a descendant of an ancient Japanese family who once served as samurai to their Shogun.
“I was born in Seattle…never mind that! What were you thinking?”
My sensei smacked me in the head once more. I wondered what I did wrong. The assassination was a success.
Could Sensei also be a fan of the Pear phones?
“Sensei, is this about the new Pear 15 release? I’m sure they won’t delay it much.”
I was smacked again.
So that was not it…could it be?
“Is this about the interview?”
“Yes, of course, it’s about the interview! Your face is all over the world by now. And if that wasn’t enough, I have been told you have some online channel…or something like that. What is that about?”
“Oh! My Tok Tik channel? Or you mean my MeTube one? I already have ten thousand subscribers, look!”
I pulled out my phone and played my latest video.
“Hello, my peeps! Here is your boy, Death Shadow from the Omega Organization. And today we are going to try the new burger from Burger Queen, the…”
I turned the phone down, feeling a bit embarrassed for showing that to my sensei. I had forgotten that was the last video I uploaded three days ago.
“I was just trying something new. Usually, my videos are more…assassin-related.” I added quickly to excuse myself.
My sensei’s face was gaining a red tint. He was very angry now.
He must be very disappointed by that burger review.
“I’m sorry Sensei, I have failed you!”
I got smacked again. Good thing my black hoodie was softening the blows because it was starting to really hurt.
“You revealed the name of our organization in EVERY SINGLE ONE of your videos!” Sensei screamed.
“But that’s my intro…” I responded defensively.
“You gave up a lot of secret information about yourself and your missions!”
“But Sensei! I want to be famous. I want to be the most famous assassin in the world!” I declared my dream out loud.
“How am I going to do that if no one knows who I am?”
I got smacked again, this time it was much harder.
“Assassins are not supposed to be famous! How many times have I told you that?!”
He did tell me that a few times, that’s true.
But that can’t be all, right? I wanted to be known as the number one assassin. How else am I to accomplish that?
“Is the organization angry with me too?” I asked.
“Angry?…” He made a pause. “They have burned you…”
I got startled and looked down at my clothes.
“No, I’m fine,” I responded.
My sensei sighed. “Maybe I was a bad teacher after all…” He said with a tone of disappointment.
“Sensei, what are—”
“Burned means…there is a kill order placed on your head. For every single member of the organization. Everyone is looking for you right now.”
My eyes opened widely.
“Everyone?!”
“Yes…including me.” My sensei unsheathed his short blade.
I stood up and took a step back. Did I have to fight the man I respected the most in the world? The man who took this worthless orphan under his wing and turned him into an amazing assassin?
No…I could not do that.
“Sensei…” I looked down.
“You have thirty minutes…” My sensei said.
I glanced back at him. He looked very sad right now.
“I would prefer not to kill you…but orders are orders. I give you thirty minutes…then I’ll hunt you down.”
I knew how important the organization was to my sensei. For him to even give me this much and go against their orders just showed how much my sensei cared for me. He surely expected me to use this time to successfully escape.
“Thank you, Sensei! I will not disappoint you!” I screamed as I rushed through the roof door as fast as I could and then waited for the elevator to arrive.
Ten minutes later, I was making my way out of the building, running as fast as I could.
My only chance was to reach the small airport on the outskirts of the city and steal one of their personal jets. That could take me anywhere in the world.
I would have to disappear for a while.
Maybe I could make a comeback in some years, under a different name.
“This means it’s goodbye to Death Shadow then…”
I must have been very distraught by the name change because I totally failed to see the truck approaching until it was too late.
Two bright white lights were the last thing I saw.
“Oh…shit.” were my last words.
