That's probably where most of the resentment is coming from for most of the doctors at Grey Sloan.. because Meredith knows that if that had happened at her hospital most of the interns/residents would've fought much harder and spoken up much louder IF they thought that something was necessary and they had the requisite time to do it, which in Derek's case they did have the time, Penny just never pushed harder or even pushed back... she just kind of accepted defeat. Which to Meredith is very foreign concept, because of her personality, Alex's personality, Christina's personality... Outside of probably Izzy in Meredith, Alex, and Christina's group of interns/residents they would've all spoken up had they been in Blake's situation.

She probably could have tried to fight harder but who know where their Chief of Surgery was and if she would have been heard out like they are at Grey Sloan. Derek’s life was on all of their doctor’s but more on her superior and then then Head of Neuro who took his slow time finishing dinner out of the area before answering the page. I do get Meredith’s feelings though and how hard it must be to try to balance making sure Penny never misses a step again while also trying to reign in her anger in feeling Penny was partially responsible for her husband’s death. It’s got to be a hard line to walk on.

2025-03-07 06:31:15 +0000 UTCI like Richard, but the AUDACITY of him to compare how he felt about having to see Meredith everyday to Meredith’s situation with Penny is wild! 🙄 Richard had a hard time with seeing Meredith because of the guilt over the choices HE MADE. It was the consequence of his actions & choices. Meredith’s situation is because of a trauma that happened TO Meredith. Meredith has to look at a person who had a part in her husband dying and her children losing their father! Of course Penny isn’t to blame for Derek’s death, but she had a hand in it no matter how you put it. Penny knew the right thing was to get a CT & she didn’t push hard enough for it. The choice to not continue to push and advocate for her patient ended up costing him his life and Penny has to live with that for the rest of her life. She definitely deserves to be able to learn from the experience and finish her training as a surgeon, but it didn’t need to be at this hospital. It actually makes me feel bad for Penny having to deal with all this hostility & a stained reputation, when she could have just had a fresh start at a different hospital. I find it all to be a completely unnecessary, shitty situation. Penny deserves a chance to learn and grow into a great surgeon, but also Meredith literally doesn’t owe her anything. No matter how Richard frames it, I will always see this whole Penny situation as a betrayal to Meredith. It could have been avoided if he hadn’t accepted Penny into the program. There are a lot of other great hospitals out there and a fresh start somewhere else would have been good for Penny too. Instead of fresh new starts everyone is suffering through this…

Not you calling Callie on not washing her hands for long enough! 😂😂 I remember when Callie didn’t wash her hands because Mer and Izzie were in the bathroom and Callie used the bathroom in season 2. But, yeah I like Penny. And she did want a CT on Derek but was over ridden by her superior. That’s not Penny’s fault. I’m glad Meredith is trying to rise above. And that little boy is so adorable! Also, I love how Karev is there for Meredith. I love their friendship. Great reaction!

He talks about how he had to deal with seeing her and being reminded of the best and worst moments of his life, but that's because he was feeling guilty for cheating on his wife!!!! It's not the same at all. I get so mad every time I see that scene.

She should have done what ANY intern or resident at Grey Sloan would have done and made it happen, but she didn't. The issue is she can't ask Meredith not to blame her when SHES THE ONE WHO TOLD HER IT WAS HER FAULT. She gave a whole crying speech about it THAT NIGHT. Don't tell me it's your fault then be mad at me for acting like it's your fault. I also kinda get Mer bc like Until you've had someone tell you your husband is dead and it could have been prevented you have no IDEA what it's like...like before it happened to me I couldnt comprehend that pain even existed. It's a hell I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. And to have someone TELL you it's their fault, when you're in that pain...to have someone sob to you basically asking you to make them feel better about something that happened TO YOU that would be hard to swallow imo and I'd be pissed too. It's like when Henry died. It wasn't Cristina's fault but Teddy NEEDED to be hard on someone who was there. She needed to understand it. And everyone else thought it was too harsh but it's what she needed to get through. This is Meredith's version of that.
