That moment of Donna putting her hands over the Doctor's so he doesn't have to do it alone is the moment that Donna became my favorite companion and part of the reason she's stayed my favorite, even all these years later.

2023-06-22 21:47:19 +0000 UTCThis episode is brilliant!! In my top 20 for sure. Not quite top 10 though, they're all still to come, but this episode is fantastic. You're spot on when you say Donna has more fire than Rose or Martha. Donna is sassy and funny and a total badass. She doesn't let The Doctor get away with anything lol and if he does something wrong she's the first person to tell him. And I think he loves that about her. It also cracks me up how disgusted both The Doctor and Donna were when that guy thought they were married, there's definitely no romantic connection there and that makes a nice change after two in a row. You're right about the budget. It doesn't get really big until season 5, that's when it started airing in America and they got a lucrative deal for joint airing/streaming rights. But season 4 definitely got a budget boost after the success of the first three seasons. The CGI doesn't look as crap anymore. 😂 My favourite scene from this episode is definitely when Evelina and the fortune teller man were predicting The Doctor and Donna's future. I get chills from that every time. I'm sure you've guessed what "she is returning" means already given the ending of 4x01, but I won't say it in case you haven't. And when he tells Donna "there's something on your back" that always creeps me out and what it means is crazy, all I can say. And also you might've noticed the Pyrovile lady say that the planet of the Pyroviles has been lost, and remember in the last episode Miss Foster said that the Adipose planet has been lost... Hmmmm... 👀 I look forward to the next episode. I absolutely LOVE the aliens in it. 😊

2023-06-22 01:26:19 +0000 UTCI love this episode, definitely up in my top 10-15 episodes. The moment when the two seers are just spouting out random facts about Doctor and Donna give me chills every time! It's so creepy. And yes, definitely a much bigger effects budget in season 4.

2023-06-22 00:30:08 +0000 UTCSo, as we see in this episode, Donna loves the Doctor, but it's platonic love. She has absolutely no romantic feelings for him so she can remain more objective than both Rose and Martha. They tend to go with whatever the Doctor wants until it's almost too late, while Donna is able to see things from a different perspective as she's not falling over every action and word of the Doctor. So far, all the companions you've seen have a great deal of compassion, but Rose and Martha aren't fully capable of showing to others as they save a good deal of it for the Doctor. Sure they show compassion for others, but they're so focused on the Doctor that they put themselves at risk a lot, as well as others without meaning to. All the companions are great for balancing out the Doctor, but Donna is the best at it because of her lack of physical attraction to the Doctor :)
