Working in a medical field makes me cringe at scenes like this. I can't watch medical shows. I stopped watching House when they couldn't diagnose rabies, and when they call toxoplasmosis gondii a fungus. There is a real threat of botulism being weaponized, but the rest is inaccurate. Botulinum toxin attacks the nervous system. It causes widespread muscle paralysis. That's why it's used in cosmetic treatments for lines and wrinkles, and some types of muscle pain. It relaxes the muscles so the symptoms are managed. It will cause death because it'll also paralyze the diaphragm. You can't breath. You die. This woman shouldn't be able to cough, move, or even speak if she has botulism and is near death. I don't know if this is a spoiler or not, but what I've found is that Hotch has this stoic G-man thing going on and Gideon gets so wrapped up in the unsub, trying to think the way they do that he loses himself.

Exactly I'm a big lover of criminal shows but the characters are sooo boring... lol cases are the only reason I watch this and even those can be kind of blah for me. There isn't a single character I feel interested in yet. Haha. I'm literally watching cause I am waiting to see how this series was on for so long.

2023-06-07 02:33:43 +0000 UTCI feel ya on the characters. I'm not super bought into most of them yet. But I do find the cases interesting. Some episodes, like this one for me, feel a little bland but I hear it gets much better in later seasons which I'm curious to see.
