2023-04-18 06:26:02 +0000 UTCAs someone who’s also not too familiar with anime, I still love this movie (I also don’t 100% get the details of Sophie’s curse). I’ve been watching this movie since I was a kid, but it took me until I was a teen (at least) to realize who the voice actors were, and it’s funny realizing that when all I know them as are Batman, Mike Wazowski (Monsters Inc.), and Peeta Mellark (The Hunger Games) 😂. I will say a big part of why I love this movie is because of Howl (and his voice), but I also love a lot of the other characters (especially Calcifer 🔥😂), and the music and visuals are both really pretty imo. In Highschool, everyone in choir had to sing The Promise of the World- The Merry-Go-Round of Life (the end credits song), so that may make me biased on the music 😂.

2023-04-15 19:23:01 +0000 UTCAh, good ol' Studio Ghibli! It's been a long time since I've seen this movie, so it was like seeing it for the first time for me. So, the takeaway for me is that Sophie was going back and forth between her ages because she hadn't fully accepted herself yet. As soon as she accepts herself fully, she lands on her young body with grey/silver hair, which means that she has youthful spirit while having enough life experience to enjoy it fully without most of the pratfalls that come with youthful frivolity. Of course, this is just my interpretation, so take what I just said with a grain of salt ;). Yeah, some heavy hitters in the voice acting department. I still prefer the original Japanese with English subtitles, but, as far as English dubs go, this is a pretty good one
