Law School Episode 2 - Progress update #12

Hello everyone,

Last week was fantastic. I worked consistently every single day and achieved all my objectives. Each day, based on the tasks at hand, I set a quota for the number of scenes to create, and I hit that quota every day except for Saturday. It's been a great week, and I'm quite pleased with my progress. It's also the first week where I haven't focused on creating animations, aside from one small one that took about 30 minutes. I really went all in on creating static renders, and it shows.

I'm planning to maintain this level of productivity over the next six weeks, right up until I leave for my holiday. My goal is to complete all the remaining story statics by October 7th. That way, when I return on the 18th, I can start working on post-production and remodeling the Facegram feature.

I'm excited because, while DAY 3 and DAY 4 in game are arguably the most substantial parts of this update, they're also the most eventful, featuring two character introductions, two LEWD scenes, and a Facegram roam. This means that I'm currently in the slowest part of the development, but I'm making significant progress, which leads me to believe that DAY 5 and DAY 6 will be quicker to create, and DAY 7 is just one scene. This update is progressing faster than I anticipated, but I don't want to jinx it, so let's ignore that last sentence!

On another note, there's something important that I need to mention. I've been aware of this for a few weeks now, but I wanted to work on it more and have a clearer understanding before explaining it to you.

I've decided to make a few changes to Episode 1 of Law School, though nothing too drastic.

First, visually speaking, I've reworked the last day of Episode 1, particularly the trial, as the colors weren't as good as I expected. I've learned a few new tools and decided to recreate the renders, so there are already 40+ renders that will go back to the rendering station soon. I'm also planning to revisit all the night scenes in the first episode and improve them. I believe I can do much better now, thanks to some new techniques I've learnt, including using Lightroom properly with the help of a patron. There are also a few other scenes, like the first class with Caroline, that could use a rework. Fortunately, I found a plugin that allows me to apply the new settings to scenes instantly without having to open them one by one, so I won't waste much time on that.

Secondly, I've decided to add three new Love Interests (LIs) to the game. This is a significant change since none of these LIs had a story before.

I spent a few weeks brainstorming and finding ways to integrate them. The reason for this is that I felt the Law School cast of LIs wasn't diverse enough. After playing a few AVNs recently, I realized that while I've learnt a lot technically since The Entrepreneur, my storytelling could use more diversity, more spice in the cast, and perhaps a faster pace at certain points. Thanks to this, I was able to identify some of the mistakes I made and what needed improvement.

I'm making these changes now because Law School is still in its early stages. I'd rather fix things now while I still can than have them burden me for the next few years. As of now, I'm not sure exactly what will change—definitely the intro, but no canon events will be altered. You should be able to load and play the game from your current save without breaking anything, at least that's the plan. I'll keep you updated once I know more. There might be a few additional dialogues you could miss, but nothing game-breaking.

I realize this is a big change, but I consider Law School : Chapter 1 incomplete until the first three episodes are out and the game is released on Steam. So, it's now or never to make these adjustments.

To clarify, while I've added three new LIs, none of the existing LIs have been changed. Some of the new ones you might have already seen, but I'll keep a bit of mystery there. I'll decide later whether or not to introduce them to you.

Now, onto the numbers:

- 1122 story statics

- 47 animations

- 25 scenes fully written

As you can see, there's been a MASSIVE upgrade in the story statics department. My goal was to create at least 30 renders daily. For the first four days, I stuck to that target, stopping work as soon as I hit it. On Friday, I pushed myself a bit more and worked later to create extra renders, which is probably why I didn’t get much done on Saturday. So, I ended the week with a whopping 201 renders, close to my personal record.

I'll aim to maintain this goal this week, but I'm off to a slow start since I had a lot to prepare today and focused on animations rather than story statics.

That's all for last week's progress update.

I know we had a small event planned for last week, but I couldn't find the time, so it will happen this week!

In the meantime, I wish you all a great week.

Law School Episode 2 - Progress update #11

Hey everyone!

Last week was incredible! I finally got to push my computers to their limits, and it’s been amazing to see just how fast they can render images for the game. I managed to render 2 full animations and around 220 static images—numbers I couldn’t even dream of before. Now, I’ve got just 90 story statics left to render in the queue, along with... Huh, well, almost 20 animations... But let’s not talk about that right now!

A few exciting things happened last week. First, I finished another LEWD scene—the third one in this episode—and I have to say, it’s my favorite so far. It’s got everything: fun, humor, sexy content, character development, and a double-digit number of animations. I’m really proud of this scene and can’t wait to see how it turns out once it’s rendered.

Secondly, thanks to a Patreon supporter, I discovered a new tool that enhances the quality of my animations. It’s a post-render tool that doubles the FPS without increasing file size or rendering time. So, my 30 FPS animations are now 60 FPS! I wanted to show you a direct comparison, but unfortunately, I couldn’t export GIFs over 30 FPS. However, imagine the difference between a 15 FPS and a 30 FPS GIF—now apply that to 30 FPS vs. 60 FPS. The improvement is night and day!

Here's the first version:

And here's the second version:

I’m thrilled with this tool, and I’ve already used it on all the animations from the first game—they look so much better now.

Lastly, I’m in the process of updating the Facegram interface in the game. Not the functionality, just the way it’s designed and implemented. For the four events where you interact with Facegram, I had to create 1,227 PNGs. It took over two weeks, and it was a nightmare to work with. My coding skills are pretty basic, so I had to use a clunky, labor-intensive approach. Imagine riding a bike with only one gear—it’ll get you there, but it’s going to take forever!

I’m currently looking to hire someone to revamp this system and teach me how to use it moving forward. The thought of doing this all over again for episode 2 was pretty daunting, so I’m excited to hand this off.

Now, onto the numbers:

- 921 story statics

- 46 animations

- 25 scenes fully written

I spent some time at coffee shops to focus on writing while letting my computers handle the rendering, which is why I didn’t hit 100 renders this week. But I balanced that out by creating 11 new animations, so overall, I’d say it was a productive week. I’m especially looking forward to DAY 4, where I’ll be introducing not one, but two new characters.

I’m confident this week will be great for creating 3D content!

Also, we had a small event on Discord, and the final phase will be a public poll this week, so stay tuned!

That’s all for now—I’m feeling really good about the work recently and can’t wait to dive back in. Wishing you all a fantastic week ahead!

Cheers,

Law School Episode 2 - Progress update #10

Hello everyone,

Last week was quite the adventure! I finally received the long-awaited parts for my computers and managed to upgrade both of my rigs. I tackled the main computer on Friday and the rendering machine on Saturday. Let me tell you, those two days couldn't have been more different.

Friday was a marathon. I spent hours assembling everything, only to run into temperature issues during testing. I ended up disassembling and reassembling the build multiple times, only to discover that the AIO cooler was no longer up to the task. It just couldn't keep up with the demands of the i9 13th gen beast of a furnace So, I ordered a new AIO from Corsair, which should arrive today. Fingers crossed, that will be the last of my parts orders for a while.

Saturday, on the other hand, was a breeze. I swapped out the motherboard, installed the new components, reinstalled WiFi drivers, tested everything, and even had to swap two fans due to cable length issues—all in under an hour. I’d like to credit Friday’s ordeal for prepping me, but the truth is, my rendering case is just way more organized than my main rig.

Unfortunately, all this tinkering meant that Friday was a bust work-wise. I managed to squeeze in a bit of work on Saturday, but not much. That said, progress has still been great, because of the 3 first days of the week.

First of all, I managed to complete DAY 3 in game of the second episode of Law School. DAY 3 in game turned out to be the biggest day of this episode by far in terms of content, with nearly 400 scenes and 20 animations—it’s a real chonky boy. There’s even a Facegram free roam sequence in there, which can be a bit time-consuming, so I’m really pleased with how it’s shaping up. The heavy dose of animations is due to a LEWD scene and several transition animations. I’m excited to render them and see how they look.

Now, I’m diving into DAY 4 with enthusiasm. Starting a new day always feels like a big leap forward. Once DAY 4 is complete, I’ll be about 50% done with this episode, including post-work. Needless to say, I’m fired up.

- 831 story statics

- 35 animations

- 22 scenes fully written

As you can see, we’re starting to build some solid content in the animation department. The static images are a bit on the light side, but I have some scenes in mind that should balance that out.

Other than that, not much else to report. I’m sticking to my new diet and work routine, and they seem to be doing wonders for me. With no vacation planned until October, I’m confident that by the end of August, we’ll have some impressive numbers for this second episode.

Anyway, I’ve got to get back to work. Wishing you all a fantastic week!

Law School Episode 2 - Progress update #9

Hello everyone,

Today, we've got another big update, so buckle up! Last week was nothing short of eventful.

Let’s start with the positives. I made significant progress on the 3D aspects of the game. I was able to create a solid number of animations and static renders, and I even completed a complex lewd scene that I’m very pleased with.

This Thursday, I’m expecting (fingers crossed, Amazon!) to receive all the components to upgrade my two rigs. I’m really excited about this, as I enjoy assembling PCs and can’t wait to see the impact on my workflow. The upgrades should significantly shorten rendering times and make it easier to work without lag, even when using demanding assets. I'll be sure to take pictures and share them on Discord once everything's set up.

Now, onto the less fun part.

This past week has been frustrating in several ways, particularly when working on the 3D aspects of the game.

Despite the progress I made, I’ve felt creatively bottlenecked by the software. I spent hours working on a one-second animation of panties falling down a character’s legs—something that should have taken just a few minutes in Blender, but took most of my day due to software limitations.

I wish I would just go and learn Blender, but my time is already limited and I can't spend any less time than I already am on the second episode.

To add to that frustration, I spent a good part of Friday afternoon dealing with a recurring issue. I’ve seen comments saying that the night scenes in "Law School" are too dark. I’d noticed similar feedback on earlier episodes of "The Entrepreneur" but hadn’t understood why since everything looked fine on my screens. However, on Friday, I sent a screenshot to a supporter of the game on Discord and realized, when I viewed it on my phone, that it was indeed very dark.

I tried adjusting the Nvidia settings and monitor settings and tested it on four different monitors. On all of them, the scene looked good, but it was still dark on the phone. I realized my screens might be overexposed, which was a bit of a blow. It hit me that when I’m happy with a render and send it to the queue for rendering, you might be seeing something much darker and less polished than what I see. This realization made me question the thousands of renders and animations I’ve created—wondering if they might actually look bad to you.

I ended up setting my monitor darker on purpose, trying to match the image quality on my phone, and consulted a few people around me. It seems like I’ve found a good balance between my monitor and what the renders actually look like for you.

But yeah, that situation really bummed me out, and I lost a few hours trying to fix it. A little frustrating, to say the least.

And to top it all off, I broke my chair and had to order a new one. Told you this week was eventful.

But, it wasn't all bad. I made excellent progress in the 3D department, so let’s talk numbers:

- 712 story statics

- 28 animations

- 21 scenes fully written

Since the last update, I’ve managed to create over 100 renders and secured 11 animations—a personal record, I think. With the new rigs coming in, I’m allowing myself to create more and more animations, which I’m really excited about.

So, that’s it for today’s progress update. I’m in the middle of working on an animation right now, so I’ll get back to it.

Talk to you soon,

Law School Episode 2 - Progress update #8

Hello everyone,

Apologies for the delay with the update. I was really tired yesterday and went to bed very early.

Last week has been pretty good. I've covered multiple aspects of the game, which kept me from feeling bored. I even did some writing at a coffeeshop, which was a nice change of scenery from my bedroom. I also created some 3D scenes and hosted a small AMA event on Discord. I had quite a few questions to answer, mostly about my workflow, and I enjoyed sharing more insights. If you haven't checked it out yet, you should click here!

In good news, all the animations I had queued are now rendered. I created one this morning, but I'll be rendering all the static images I have in stock first over the next few days. I have a lot queued and want to see how the scenes I created look.

Regarding the rig upgrade situation, last week I mentioned I was planning to get a third rig to improve my rendering capacity. However, after a conversation with Fooxied, the dev of Steps of Debauchery, I realized my settings in the software I use were probably set too high. Some details I emphasized could be added post-production in Photoshop.

So, I decided to adjust some quality settings and see how it affects the render quality. This should save me time. Additionally, I'm upgrading both my current computers to the latest or near-latest hardware. We concluded that my GPU was more bottlenecked by the CPU and motherboard than I thought. On my workstation, I'm limited by modeling power, and loading too many characters or big environments often causes crashes. Since I like realism in my scenes, upgrading my workstation made sense. I've ordered all the parts and should receive them before August 10th.

I'm excited about these upgrades and will share some images with you when they're done so you can see the results!

Now, let's talk about numbers:

- 609 story statics

- 17 animations

- 19 scenes fully written

As you can see, I was a little slow with the 3D progress, but I've been enjoying the week, which helps with my mood. Also, not trying to find excuses, but I'm on a new diet, eating only twice a day at 11am and 3pm, so I'm more tired than usual. I expect to feel better by early September when I'm back on a "more generous" diet.

That's it for today's progress update! I look forward to doing more, and in the meantime, I wish you all a great week.

Law School Episode 2 - Progress update #7

Well, it was quite an uneventful week. I kept working on creating more scenes, but I had to take a break to create some custom content for my higher-tier patrons. Thanks again for your patience. I finally finished rendering an animation with Lana, and it took my Render Station 10 DAYS. Yes, you read that right, one animation took 10 days to render.

Here’s the result:

The GIF quality isn't great, but it’s a nice animation. Still, 10 days? I can't wait for my new computer parts to arrive so I can build a third Render Station.

Other than that, the week was quiet. I'm still working on more scenes and animations, but knowing I can't render them for another 3 weeks is pretty demotivating. It’s been tough to stay focused, and I've procrastinated more than once.

I'll do better next week. I'm trying to fix a few habits and get back to the productivity level I know I'm capable of.

Anyway, let’s talk numbers!

  • 564 story statics

  • 16 animations

  • 17 scenes fully written

I made some progress, but I’m still far from the 150 renders a week I’m aiming for. I think the summer is partly to blame; I find myself wanting to go out more instead of working late nights. Hopefully, the weather will change soon, and I can get back to working as hard as before.

That’s it for this progress update. I’m in the midst of finishing a big scene and can’t wait to move on to the next one.

Thanks to everyone who voted in the poll! We now have the name of the new teacher of Stocklinburg, and it’s Danielle!

I’ve got to get back to it, but I wish you all a great week!

Law School Episode 2 - Progress update #6

Hello everyone,

This past week has been quite eventful with many things happening. We have a big progress update, so buckle up!

First of all, my 3D work output was rather slow. There are two reasons for that. The first one is that I focused more on script and story writing than usual. I found myself getting a little bored with 3D work, so instead of pushing through, I focused on writing, which turned out well since I managed to write some good scenes.

Secondly, I decided to add a money management system to the game. It was an idea I had for episode 1 that I dropped, but I thought it could be great to put players in situations where they could use money for rewards or for buying items and unlocking scenes. I then had to code it, find a way to make it work, display it on the phone, and plan for episodes 1 and 2, which took some work in Photoshop and additional planning. So, these two aspects slowed down my 3D scene creation.

But that's alright since my rendering queue is full of animations and statics. This brings me to a serious concern I've had multiple times before, but this time there's no way around it.

My setup includes two computers: one for creating scenes (Workstation) and the other for rendering scenes (Renderstation), be it animations or static images.

I first started with these two computers over three years ago, and it worked fine until now. Previously, I could place the Renderstation in the living room as I was living alone, and it wasn't an issue to have it run 24/7. However, I’ve since moved and now live with two people, meaning I can't place my Renderstation in the living room anymore, so it's in my bedroom. This means it doesn't run when I sleep. On good days, I get 16 hours of work out of it, which is only 66% of what I used to get. That's the first issue.

Another issue is that I increased the quality of my scenes to achieve better lighting, clarity, less noise, and fewer issues with darker colors.

This is an image from the first episode. You can see weird lines in the darker parts of the image, even on the MC's skin. Getting rid of these in post-work is hard and difficult, and it's much easier to do directly in the scene. However, this comes at a cost: the rendering time has nearly doubled, close to 2.4 times per image.

Now for some math to explain the issue I'm facing. Where I could create around 55 images a day before, I'm now around 23-24, which means about 700 images a month. The first episode had 2995 images, more like 3150 created since many didn't make the cut. So, let's say 4.5 months of rendering to create images. On paper, that's alright. But then we have animations.

Animations are made with images: a 1-second animation is 30 frames, so 30 images. Creating a 5-second animation is 150 images, almost a week's worth of work for the Renderstation for just one animation of 5 seconds.

The first episode has 117 animations. The longest is 450 frames, and the shortest are eyes blinking at 7 frames. If I keep things this way, the second episode won't be out for another 2 years, which is not an option.

With me constantly adding more animations for both lewd and non-lewd scenes, I'm in a big bottleneck situation. My Renderstation already has an RTX 4090, top tier for rendering 3D images. It's a little bottlenecked by my CPU, but I'll upgrade this station soon.

Right now, this isn't the main goal. I looked into rendering farms, but they're not an option. I tried rendering the environment and characters separately and then mixing them in Adobe Premiere, which I think NLT does, but I couldn't get good results due to camera movement and lighting. So, I'm left with one solution: assembling another Renderstation.

I always thought a third computer would come in handy one day, but I didn't expect it before having my own place. Like everything in the past three and a half years, plans never worked out as intended but ended up working anyway. There's always an unforeseen thing happening, but it's part of the process, I guess.

At the end of the month, I'll be ordering new components—CPU, RAM, GPU, motherboard, storage, etc.—and assembling another Renderstation. Next month, I'll upgrade my first Renderstation, and the month after, I'll upgrade my current Workstation to become a hybrid station. I sometimes work in coffee shops on the script, so I could use that computer as another rendering station, albeit much slower, because, pardon my French, I don't shit gold.

So, that's the big challenge I'm trying to overcome. The next two and a half months won't be very pleasant, but it is what it is.

I currently have over 300 images queued and a bunch of animations on the way, so it's not viable.

Anyway, let's talk about numbers!

  • 487 story statics

  • 13 animations

  • 17 scenes fully written

As you can see, progress is good. This week was slow with 3D images, but it's not a big deal given everything I've said.

For now, I'm taking "advantage" of this situation to work on other things.

Thanks for reading. I vented a little because this is a huge investment, and I had to cancel many plans because of it. Also, if you haven't voted yet, I'd love for you to help name the new teacher joining Stocklinburg staff in episode 2, so get to it right here.

That's it! I'm going to work for a couple more hours and then relax tonight. I've been up since 5, and my sleep hasn't been great lately. I'll come back stronger tomorrow.

Thanks for reading, and I wish you all a great week.

Law School Episode 2 - Progress update #5

Last week marked my return from holidays, and I didn't waste a second before getting back to work.

I wrote a significant amount of scenes while I was away, although it isn't as much as I had hoped. Still, I'm happy because it felt great to write many scenes all at once.

I returned on Wednesday last week but only started working the next day as I was tired from traveling. In the meantime, I managed to wrap up two scenes and am now working on DAY 3 in the game. I'm quite pleased with how things are shaping up for the second episode of Law School.

I believe this episode might surpass the first one in terms of story and graphics, which is a great motivation.

Now, let's talk numbers:

  • 411 story statics

  • 9 animations

  • 13 scenes fully written

Progress is solid so far.

I haven't sent a LEWD scene to the animator I work with yet, but I'll get to it shortly, which will bring more animations to the game.

Anyway, I'm getting back to work now. I wish you all a great week.

Law School Episode 2 - Progress update #4

Hello everyone,

Last week was quite a mess. I was supposed to leave on Wednesday for a few days off, but due to numerous cancellations and an incredible lack of professionalism from the airline, I ended up being stuck in Germany for an entire day, spending the night in the airport. I eventually landed in my hometown on Friday morning, exhausted and frustrated. As a result, I didn't work on the script until yesterday because I needed to rest. By the way, I enjoyed drinking one (or more) great German pint for the first time in Germany, so cheers to all you Germans out there.

But that's behind me now, and I have two full days before I fly back to Dublin on Wednesday morning to continue working on the game's visuals.

I'm going to use these days to write as many scenes as possible. I managed to write a few scenes yesterday; they were pretty long, and I'm happy with the results. There was also an optional scene I enjoyed writing, involving Aurora, and I enjoy working with her because of her personality. And because she's redhead.

On another note, I've changed a setting on Patreon that just became available this month. From now on, when you purchase a subscription, you will be charged on a monthly basis from the date you decided to support me. I thought this was fairer, as people could previously purchase a pledge at the end of the month and benefit from the advantages for only a few days before having to pay again. So, just a heads up to avoid any surprises.

Now, let's talk about numbers:

- 293 story statics

- 7 animations

- 9 scenes fully written

We're making good progress with the writing. I think I can probably write a solid 5 or 6 more scenes today, and another 5 tomorrow before I leave. Looking at the story mapping, some big scenes are coming up, so I don't think I'll manage more than that.

Overall, happy days! It's now July, and it's been a month since I returned to working on Law School. The progress isn't bad for a month. I'm behind in terms of story statics, but I started small to avoid burnout and gradually increased the pace. I'm slowly getting back to my regular workload, so progress will improve from now on.

That's it for last week's progress update. I'm going back to writing scenes now, and I wish you all a great week.

Law School - Episode 2 - Progress update #3

Hello everyone,

Last week, my workload was relatively stable, which allowed me to make solid progress. As a result, I took the entire weekend off to recharge and now feel refreshed for the final three days of work before I head to France for a five-day break.

I managed to complete the fourth scene just in time today and since my flight is late Wednesday at night, I plan to spend the next two days finishing up the fifth scene. It will include a LEWD scene, but I'll focus on the "regular part" of the scene first and postpone the LEWD content, as I'm considering hiring a 3D animator for this episode.

For episode one, I collaborated with someone, but now I'm aiming to significantly enhance the animation quality. I'm currently on the lookout for an animator who can bring my vision to life—I'm confident that we will achieve great things if I find the right person.

Additionally, I'll be dedicating time while I'm away (armed with my laptop) to write the next upcoming scenes. Upon my return next Tuesday, I'll dive back into 3D work, which excites me given the character of the scenes, even though I won't spoil the surprise. I've also been refining the lighting in my scenes like I previously said, which, although time-consuming, has paid off by making them look much more realistic. However, these adjustments have also increased my render times from about 20-25 minutes per image to 40-60 minutes. Despite this, I'm committed to this quality improvement, even though it now limits me to about 20 renders per day, or around 150 per week—and don't even start me on animations. But as always, I'll find a way to make it work.

Let’s look at some numbers from last week:

- 276 story statics

- 7 animations

- 6 scenes fully written

I spent a bit more time on statics this week and worked only five days, which explains why I didn’t reach 100 renders. However, I did manage to create 5 animations, balancing out my output.

That’s the update for last week. I'm looking forward to my upcoming break—it’s probably my last holiday before September.

I’ll catch up with more soon. Have a great week ahead!

Law School Episode 2 - Progress update #2

Hello everyone,

This past week has been a bit slower than I would have liked due to having to socialize more than usual because of birthdays and such. Consequently, I didn't get as much work done as I wanted, but I still made decent progress. I've started working on a complex and large scene for DAY 2, which I managed to finish yesterday. It was particularly challenging due to intricate lighting and more scenes than usual. But it's now behind me, and I can move on to other scenes.

I've also modified the first episode of Law School based on all the bug reports I received since its release, and I adapted certain dialogues. The updated version is already uploaded, so new players will receive the corrected version. There was a sentence from me in the released version addressing the proofreaders, which I missed! I mean, can you believe it?

Now, back to Law School episode 2. The huge scene I mentioned features the first animation of the episode. There will be more animations in DAY 1, but I haven't created them yet since I postponed its creation. I'm very happy about this animation because it’s a significant one, featuring a new lip sync feature. I found a plugin that works remarkably well, allowing you to see the characters say the words. I probably won’t add voices when using lip sync due to negative feedback. But now that I have access to this feature, I’m excited to create more "transition animations." I’m currently working on one right now, following the previous lip-sync scene.

Here are the numbers:

- 185 story statics

- 2 animations

- 4 scenes fully written

Yes, I have added the animation I'm working on right now because it's almost finished. Other than that, it's not bad, but I wish I could have produced more renders last week. My goal is to aim for at least 150 renders per week from now on. However, I'll be away for 5 days next week, so I'll miss this target in the first week. But that’s okay; there’s plenty of time to adjust afterwards.

Also, I’m happy to see so many people commenting about Law School on itch.io, or joining the Discord to exchange with us. It’s nice, and we even have some events going on in the Discord right now, so feel free to join if you haven’t yet!

That’s it for today. I’m excited to get back to work, but that will have to wait until tomorrow since France is playing in the Euro tonight. Allez les bleus!

I’ll get back to work tomorrow, and in the meantime, I wish you all a good week.

Law School Episode 2 - Progress update #1

Hello everyone,

I'm excited to bring you the first progress update for the second episode of "Law School."

Last week marked my return to work, and I gradually picked up the pace. From Monday to Thursday, I had to manage various tasks related to both "Law School" and "The Entrepreneur." I only started working on the 3D aspects of "Law School" later on Thursday.

As I mentioned in my last post, the mapping of the second episode is now complete. It will feature nearly as many scenes as the first episode, unless I decide to add more. The current setup looks great, and I'm looking forward to creating many scenes in this episode.

Now, let's talk about what I've accomplished since the end of last week. I wrote two entire scenes and created the accompanying 3D images. So far, 65 scenes have been created and are queued for rendering. These scenes are from Day 2 of episode 2. I decided to postpone working on Day 1 since it continues from the last scene of episode 1, which I plan to re-render with different settings to improve the lighting.

Speaking of, I spent the entire Wednesday of last week experimenting with the 3D software and its settings to enhance my render quality. I learned new lighting techniques, applied them, and spent hours tweaking the settings to understand how everything works. Although it was time-consuming, I now have a better grasp of it all, which I believe will significantly improve the renders in the second episode.

As is tradition from the first episode's progress updates, here are some numbers of what have been produced:

  • 65 story statics

  • 0 animations

  • 2 scenes fully written

Progress has been a bit slow since I only worked on it from Thursday afternoon to Saturday night, but as I said, I'm gradually picking up the pace.

Once again, I'm very excited to work on the second episode and very grateful for the warm feedback I've received. Have a great week!

Law School - Episode 1 Post release thoughts + What's to come

Hello everyone,

I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to thank you for the warm welcome that Law School - Episode 1 received.

It's always stressful to release an episode, but the feedback has been fantastic and extremely rewarding. I took a whole nine days off from the release date to yesterday, working maybe three or four hours in total. It felt really good, and I hadn't done that in ages.

Now, I feel relaxed and ready to tackle the second episode of Law School. I'll be resuming my weekly progress updates on Patreon to keep you informed about our progress. So far, I've only spent a few hours mapping out the second episode, and today I'm diving back into 3D work and scene creation. It feels a bit like returning to work after a holiday, but I feel recharged and excited.

Mapping the second episode made me realize that we're finally delving deeper into some characters' stories, which I'm thrilled about. I'm proud of the stories I've created for each of them, and I can't wait to share more with you.

Anyway, I won't keep this too long. I just wanted to thank you all again and let you know that I'm back to work. See you soon!

Best,

MisterMaya

Law School - episode 1 Final progress update

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to give you an update as we approach the final days of development and the release of the first episode. Currently, I'm working on the last part of the game, which is the Facegram feature. I completed the roaming event over 10 days ago and have since been focusing almost exclusively on Facegram. It's been a challenging new coding experience for me, involving a lot of Photoshop work to create the necessary images for interactions, figuring out the design, and then making it all function. I'm currently about 50% done with Facegram.

In the first episode, you'll have four opportunities to pull out your phone and roam Facegram, browsing characters' profiles, sending messages, liking posts, commenting, etc. It might sound a bit strange, but imagine interacting on a social media platform with friends. It adds a lot of depth to the game, and I'm very proud of it.

So far, I've completed coding for the first instance of Facegram, which took about a week of trial and error. Now that I have the coding figured out, it's a matter of grinding through it: copying and pasting code blocks, changing paths, and creating new images. It's a lot of work, but knowing how it all works makes things much simpler.

On Friday, 48 hours from now, I will send the game for final testing. I may or may not have Facegram entirely finished, but I want to give testers a full week to play the game. Since this is the second testing phase, it should go more smoothly than the first, with fewer errors and a shorter testing period. This will also give me time to finish Facegram.

If the testers need more time and I have to postpone the release to the 25th or 26th, I will post a special update on Patreon to let you know. It will be my responsibility for sending such a large build for testing so late.

The stress and anxiety are starting to settle in on top of all the tasks and work I still have to do. I just woke up from a 6-hour nap after a 33-hour shift, one of my records since I started developing. That should show you how invested, excited, and eager I am to release the game on the 24th.

Here are some final numbers for the first episode:

  • 2986 story statics

  • 69 animations

  • 43 scenes

  • 1 freeroam (400 statics and 7 animations)

  • Facegram, which allows for many interactions and has 29 images of characters.

This first episode is a huge, chunky project. Anyway, it's time for me to get back to photoshopping and coding. I'll see you all on the 24th for the release.

Have you ever played Betrayed?

Today I'm doing a cross promotion with Joraell, one of the creators of Betrayed!
Here's what he wants to say to you:

BETRAYED:

This erotic novel is set in a fictional world I created with DarkMage and Dracula Belmont. In this world, you’ll decide and determine how the game ends. The game contains a karma system, which determines how the story progresses based on your choices. This will lead to one of the multiple endings I have created. This allows replayability. As a bonus, I've also included secret sex scenes that you can find by locating Easter Eggs I've placed throughout the game.

The story is quite simple: You are a young man who, in his imprudence, is killed. He ends up in purgatory, wanting to start a new life. He makes a deal with the devil: He can continue as a powerful spirit who can possess any individual, but in return, the devil owns your soul. Is it up to you to determine what happens to our protagonist?

My game also features high-quality renders and sex cut scenes that are fully animated. No more lazily made low frame rate looping animations or a set of images that you have to scroll by hand. I am sure that you will enjoy them.

Game is available for PC,MAC and Android.

Law School - Progress update #26

Well, well, well, look who's late again.

I received feedback on the first episode of Law School from almost all testers about a week ago, and I've been diligently correcting identified errors. There were numerous issues, partly because I couldn't conduct my usual pre-test phase due to a flight I had to catch right after completing the episode. Now, over a week later, I have corrected all reported issues, primarily script typos, but also some scenario inconsistencies that required a bit of research to resolve.

Currently, I'm deeply involved in developing the roaming event and the intern social media platform, Facegram, both of which demand extensive Photoshop work. Facegram, in particular, is challenging as it involves creating the entire interface and ensuring player navigation and interaction with other characters. Although I considered dropping it, its importance for in-game interaction persuaded me to continue. Currently, I'd say I have completed about 70% of the roaming event and 25% of Facegram.

Fortunately, this work is creatively fulfilling and relaxed enough that I can multitask, like watching a series while I work, allowing for long, productive hours. My goal is to finalize the roaming event soon to incorporate it into the next testing phase.

In other updates, I've ordered a new LEWD scene with 5 additional animations for this episode since I have more work to do still. My second computer is handling the heavy lifting, which helps me stay productive without feeling like I'm wasting time.

On another note, very soon, it will be eight months since I started working on Law School—a lengthy period, very similar of the time spent on the first episode of my first game, The Entrepreneur. However, this episode features more content, functionality, and music, which reassures me that it carries the same essence and will hopefully be well-received.

Anyway, that was it for today's update, I'll to try to keep you updated as soon as possible, and in the meantime, I'll get back to it.

Law School - Last progress update! (#25)

Oh Taylor, do I feel you, I'm exhausted as well.

Finally we're reaching the end. The first episode of Law School will be sent in the next few days for testing.
I spent so much more time that I thought I would because of a few unfortunate events, I had to re-render a few animations because of hair clipping issues, and had to entirely abandon one kissing animation, which took 5 days to render because of this.

As you can see, the shirt decided to clip onto the arm for some reason, and I'm not going through another 2 hours to modify this animation and then another 5 days of rendering, so I just gave up on that animation, which hurts; but eh. Shit happens I guess?

Anyway, there's also the different mini games and the roaming event which are a PIA. At the moment, I kind of postponed them for testing, as in, they won't be in the version I'm going to send to the testers. It allows me to fix the issues I have in the meantime that the game's being tested, and the grammar and typo mistakes are fixed.
Issues are coding related and unfortunately, that's something that takes a little longer since it's a new aspect for me, there was no roaming events or such mini games involved in The Entrepreneur.

So yeah, that's pretty much it for now.

Thanks again for your support and I'm so excited to share this game with you, it looks really great.

See you soon,

MisterMaya

Have you played The Seven Realms by SeptCloud?

Today we're doing a cross promotion with SeptCloudGames and their game, The Seven Realms.

The Seven Realms is a fantasy, story-driven adult visual novel created by SeptCloudGames.

You play as the vampire prince maintaining order in the Realm of Terran (Earth). You unexpectedly meet a girl called Leyala, which begins a chain of events that will lead them across all seven realms.

In their second season, SeptCloud have entirely overhauled their graphics. Their image and animation quality were already excellent, but now they’re next-level.

The game will be split into several seasons (each called a Realm). Realms 1 & 2 are complete, withRealm 3 currently in production.

Realm 1 is based in Terran, revolving around vampires and werewolves.

Realm 2focuses on a dramatic conflict between demons and witches.

Realm 3explores a mysterious plague afflicting the elves.

In the future realms, you’ll meet mermaids, dragons, fairies, and various other species. Did I mention it's also a harem game? There will be girls of each species that you can have fun with.

There are three main love interests, alongside numerous other women you can get with during the game. All sexual content in the game is avoidable, except for two scenes that are still skippable.

While there are many girls you can be with, the game's real focus comes with its story and characters. All characters have detailed backstories and personalities, which will be explored as the game progresses.

Law School - Progress update #24

Hello everyone, it's been a while since my last update.

Lately, I've been deeply engrossed in the final stretch of development, achieving some key milestones but still finding myself a considerable distance from the finish line. I must confess, I underestimated certain aspects of the project, leading to an excessive workload. Reflecting on my experiences with The Entrepreneur Christmas Special and the second episode of The Entrepreneur, I recall enduring a burnout that left me incapacitated for three weeks.
I was exhausted bud couldn't sleep. Regrettably, I sense a similar overwhelm looming on the horizon.

To cope, I've altered my sleep schedule to night owl hours, finding it boosts my productivity despite the evident downsides. Recognizing the need for balance, I've recently decided to moderate my workload for the sake of both my well-being and the progress of Law School. Over the past three days, I've limited my working hours to just 3 or 4 per day, dedicating the remainder to rest. This slower pace is a deliberate and necessary adjustment, though I plan to gradually return to my previous rhythm.

This shift, however, impacts the game's release timeline. While I had hoped to launch in March, it's now clear that Law School will instead be in the hands of testers by the end of March, with a release slated for no earlier than April.

I apologize for this adjustment, especially so close to the expected release. Believe me, the anticipation to share the first episode, into which I've poured so much effort, matches your own. But to ensure the debut doesn't suffer from a lack of refinement, this delay is crucial.

Thank you for your understanding and patience. I'm eager to return to full production soon, but until then, I hope you all have a fantastic week.

Law School - Progress update #23

Hello everyone, I'm thrilled to bring you Law School - Progress update 23 of the 1st episode!
I'd also like to apologize for missing last week's progress update, but I was so close to reaching a turning point and had nothing remotely important to talk about.

Today is an important update, because I've got loads of important things to say, so let's start right away.

First, an important milestone: I have completed all the story statics for Episode 1, albeit a month later than planned. This delay was due to a series of unforeseen events, including illness, a back injury, and additional work on my first game, "The Entrepreneur."

While I won't delve into the specifics here, I'm eager to announce that March will bring exciting news for "The Entrepreneur."

Moreover, another long-term project of mine related to "MisterMaya" is finally coming to fruition, and I look forward to sharing it with you. These developments have contributed to the one-month delay, but thankfully, no further delays have occurred since February.

Now, let me proudly announce the numbers of the first episode:
2,557 story statics
68 animations
43 scenes have been fully written

We are looking mighty good especially since I have two mini games and a roaming even to create still, so we might be looking at around 2700-2800 renders and maybe another 1 or 2 animations.

I'm very grateful for the progress made, especially lately as my mind has been on three things at a time. I'm currently juggling the final tasks for "The Entrepreneur," which occupy 70% of my workload, leaving 30% for "Law School." Completing these tasks within the next two weeks is crucial. The pressure has cut into my sleep, but it's a challenge I'm determined to overcome. I'm also in the midst of preparing "Law School" for a social media introduction, which requires the creation of numerous promotional images.

Now what's next is not going to be the development of the aforementioned mini-games and roaming event. I also aim to create 90 to 100 images for the characters' Facegram profiles, a task I estimate will take 2 to 3 days. Following this, I'll review all images to adjust scenes as needed and address any issues such as clipping or lighting. Typically, up to 5% of scenes require revision, a process that should take no more than a day and a half, including rendering time. The final step is the post-work phase, which I hope to complete in under two weeks. My ultimate goal is to finalize the first episode by the end of March and then distribute it to testers.

So yeah, a lot of work still, but a huge milestone has been reached. I need to get back to it, and in the meantime, I wish you all a great week.

Law School - Progress update #22

Hello everyone, we're finally getting there.
I've completed DAY 7 and am now working on DAY 8 and its one and only scene.

We're making progress. I anticipate that three or four days should be sufficient for me to complete it, but we'll see what unfolds in the coming days. I've been quite swamped with work recently, as March is a busy month for both "Law School" and "The Entrepreneur." Consequently, I haven't been able to devote as much time as I should to "Law School," which has me worried about whether I'll manage to finish DAY 8 in the next 3 to 4 days.

Other than that, everything seems to be going well. I'm pleased with the quality of the scenes I've created and am looking forward to the post-production phase.

Let's talk about numbers now:

  • 2,457 story statics
  • 52 animations
  • 42 scenes have been fully written

As you can see, the last LEWD scene contributed a significant number of animations for which I'm very grateful. I expect the last scene will add about 200 statics and 2 animations, and then we'll be done with the story statics and animations.

Well, that's all for today's progress update.

Also, happy Valentine's Day to everyone. I hope you enjoy the day with someone special, and if not, have a date with Miranda on me :)

Law School - Progress update #21

Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well.

Today's progress update is unique because we skipped last week's update. Unfortunately, I spent five days bedridden, followed by a few days recovering from a virus that caught me off guard. I'm back on my feet, though not yet at full capacity. This unexpected setback significantly slowed my progress on the first episode of Law School. I had aimed to complete all the static renders by the end of January, but that goal was not met.

Currently, I am working on the final scene of DAY 7 and will soon move on to the substantial scene of DAY 8. I estimate it will take a couple more days to finish DAY 7, followed by another 3 or 4 days to complete DAY 8.

Given the disruptions caused by my health issues, I'm avoiding any future projections regarding the game's release in March.

Fortunately, my rendering station remained operational, so not all time was lost.

Now, for the numbers:

  • 2387 story statics
  • 45 animations
  • 41 scenes have been fully written

Progress is steady, albeit slow. There's not much change from two weeks ago, but as life would have it, unexpected challenges arise!

Additionally, I'll share the 4K Wallpaper of the month on Friday, which I have yet to render.

Unfortunately, there's not much else to report, not due to illness but because we're nearing the end of the 3D work and my focus is narrow at this point.

Once this phase is complete, more thrilling tasks will begin, offering more interesting updates.

With that said, I need to return to work, wishing everyone a wonderful day.
