Delightful Duty Chapter 19
Added 2025-10-21 11:50:40 +0000 UTCChapter 19 of Delightful Duty, in which Rhaenyra and Laena bond over their experiences with pregnancy, with the former comforting the latter over Daemon's reluctance to touch her during it, only for her water to break. Meanwhile, Jon continues to develop his smithing skills, blissfully unaware of everything going on around him, and Laenor and Qarl take a trip down to the village that ends having consequences for everyone.

You know, as I have been rereading this story, there is another thing that I have found that I also wonder about. It is mentioned in chapter 6, saying that there are THREE paths to Valyrian magic. Now the Path of Flesh that Rhaenyra is studying is one, Jon I think is studying the path of stone if I remember correctly since I haven't finished rereading past chapter six yet, but that still leaves ONE other path of Valyrian magic left. That makes me wonder if you plan to bring in another Targaryen who will be loyal to the Blacks and Rhaenyra to learn the third path of magic. Personally, I would say Laena over Daemon or Rhaenys. But any of them would be very interesting and would give them another distinct advantage. the only other thing I wonder about is if there is also a way for Jon to advise Rhaenyra in a way to win over The North before the war really kicks off. I mean since he is actually from there I would think he could advise her in how best to win them over to her side, either in something like a canal building project for moat Cailin, offering them foodstuff like rice or other long-lasting foodstuff, or even in betrothals and fostering. Anyway, just ideas I have come up with or wonder about whilst I am rereading your magnificent story. In any event, please keep up the good work, this story is a masterpiece.

2025-10-25 21:54:28 +0000 UTCOk, I loved the chapter overall, even if the cliff hanger makes it a real Bastard (yes, pun absolutely intended and in more ways than one), but after rereading it again I realized, you didn't describe any of the features of the children. Wasn't that an original big part of why Rhaenyra first wanted to get together with Jon? So that any of her children would have much more obvious Valyrian features?

2025-10-21 23:36:14 +0000 UTCLike I said in other posts I think it's too big a leap for Rhaenyra to jump to near resurrection magic, while I think the consequences are too interesting to let Laenor live regardless, especially if Rhaenyra and Jon can get married now, with all the drama that would bring 😉

2025-10-21 20:12:40 +0000 UTCHe wasn't much better in the books and comes off as a bit of a fop so the show probably improved Laenor's image.

2025-10-21 20:08:21 +0000 UTCI mean I think it makes things more interesting, both to have a real loss with stakes now and the added temptation for Jon and Rhaenyra to marry, despite the political costs, though if Jon openly rides Morgul it could change the dynamic a bit. Plus it would be too much for Rhaenyra to be able to resurrect the dead. So with everything said and done it shakes the story up and makes the personal and political fallout too interesting for me to hope for Laenor's survival, sad as I am to see him go.

2025-10-21 20:05:04 +0000 UTCThis chapter so much intense in comparison to previous one and this cliffhanger is something many people watched show for. Brilliant move but i must add to the idea of other commentator about some poll to replace some other planned work with next chapter of Duty. Because waiting whole month to know what happened next would be torture.....

2025-10-21 18:57:28 +0000 UTCI was about to congratulate your for rehabilitating the damage the show did to Laenor, but then you mortally injure him. I sincerely hope you do him justice and do not let him die such a pathetic death.

2025-10-21 16:17:21 +0000 UTCAm curious to see if the children have fully classic Targaryen silver hair or black hair or a mix. Technically 3 of the grandparents have pure silver hair, and purple eyes. Also time has come to see if Rhaenyra’s flesh magic is worth anything, so far her abilities can only be described as a cute lil party trick, but if she manages to save Laenor life then this will be a big turning point in your story…

2025-10-21 15:52:26 +0000 UTCA MONTH? WE HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER MONTH? TELL ME IT AIN’T SO! Good chapter, and need more expeditiously.

2025-10-21 14:57:57 +0000 UTCOh wow… wasn’t expecting that ending… I knew Qarl was going to be a problem but I expected him to try to kill Jon rather than what happened. Maybe Laenor isn’t gone yet and can be healed with Rhaenyra’s magic, hopefully. One thing I really, really hope for is that they at least learn from Qarl that that Rivers cunt was spreading rumours about Jon and Laenor. Otherwise this Hightower spy will remain undetected… I don’t know how soon the next update will come but I hope it’s very, because that cliffhanger was dastardly ^^

2025-10-21 13:39:29 +0000 UTCI mean, it's possible that his lights are simply out but he's not fully gone.. But the likelihood of any real recovery is real low. Damn this cliffhanger.. Gonna need a follow up stat, or mayhaps have a poll on whether we can have this next chapter over Heat or something..?? Damn you! Lol

2025-10-21 12:42:45 +0000 UTCSame, hope it's on the next poll or something cause I can't wait a month to see what happens after this. It's sad but at the same time I wonder how it'll work out for Jon in particular
