From the private discussion about the canal project: “Thank you for turning it down outright, your Grace,” Matthos chuckled. “I know it’s a vast project, but if we can manage it, I think it will be extraordinary for the kingdoms.” I assume it should read ‘for not turning it down outright.’ Am I correct?

That said, I was recently rereading some previous chapters and noticed that dealing with the clans in the vale has been mentioned multiple times off handedly, but not yet to any serious consideration. If I had to guess, I would say that is going to be another project that Rhaenyra will pick up. Maybe once she has a Valyrian steel armor set for dragon riding after Jon finishes learning the process. And finally, here’s hoping that the North gets some love from Rhaenyras projects as well. It’s the age-old problem of who do you give boons to. Do you give them to neutral houses to bring them over (the Tyrell’s) or do you grant them to your loyal kingdoms to reward loyalty (Starks). So far she has been doing more of the first with her canal and sept, than the latter.

Since the canal has been approved Rhaenyra should use this opportunity to clear out Flea Bottom by give jobs to everyone in Flea Bottom from the canal and then use the now cleared out area to set up a headquarters/Fortress for the Gold cloaks this would allow Rhaenyra to further get them on her side without needing her uncle's help. Also with so many of the city now gone the smell will greatly lessen for a time at least.
