I can't wait for autumn. I've been revisiting workshops that I did before 2020, and realizing how many amazing photos I skipped over. I think its something I'm going to start recommending my students do as well.
When your in that workshop environment you are almost creating with this unmatchable ferocity. As often as I shoot I'm not waking up in the same way as on workshops. I have to worry about my meals, my plants, my regular life. Disconnecting from all of that and going on these outings I'm able to focus and freely think about teaching/shooting, and one honestly helps me focus even more on the other.
But the amount that everybody shoots on these can be daunting. Opening up a folder of thousands and thousands of images is a lot to digest. I think its important to maybe go through that folder the week after, again a couple months later, and then maybe 1 or 2 more times over the years.
See what you got, what you missed, ongoing evaluation of your work is important, and informative, and shot selection is part of the work I think a lot of us think we can just do, and don't think about a second time.
