One Shot with Nicole

My preferred way to shoot has and always will be photographing with the goal of creating one fantastic image.  I haven’t hit a point in my career where that is something that I can really do, and with the way things are on the Internet right now for most models a full set 15-40 images is more useful than one, and I owe my collaborators useful results for their time.

The rapidity of social media means artists in all fields feel compelled to feed the beast content at least once if not multiple times a day.  This means pushing yourself to create almost constantly.  This means building a small mountain of rainy day content in case you get sick.

Luckily as long as Nicole is home she is pretty much always willing to run outside for 15-20 minutes with me to try and create just that one photo I have in my mind.  I see the seen, and she fills in the gaps with her posing.

When these yellow flowers first came up I was struggling to find a way to incorporate them into a photo.  The field was covered in bright green grass.  The hemlock stood tall and alive.  But when summer dry spells and heat waves finally came the grass bolted, yellowed, and the hemlock died.  One day last week I noticed the yellow was nearly the last color standing in the meadow, and my shot would finally work.  So we ran outside at last light, and created this image.
