Robin Mae for Into the Wild
Added 2019-07-26 23:15:08 +0000 UTCOn sunny days we seek the shade. Small places where the dappled light falls behind us, and we can create where the sun falls softly. I knew when we first moved here the creek would provide a place I would love to shoot, and as the temperatures warm up I am finding that to be the case.
It had actually been hard to find a place where the water flowed slowly here in the North West. The mountains feed many of the rivers or spring melt keeps them wild and dangerous. Waterfalls cascade, white water rushes, and we generally shot along the banks of these rivers because to try to shoot in them would be death. Then we found the house with the creek, and though at times this too flows violently the summer has brought us calm, cool, and shallow waters...a playground to create and explore.
Robin and I shot this in early spring on a hot day, and even though the water was freezing, she was an incredible trooper, braving the cold for some truly beautiful photos. The images feel warm, but I can assure you we were both freezing by the end of this shoot.
