We Were Wanderers - Hawaii
Added 2018-03-02 00:54:14 +0000 UTCEverything changed for me when I was on the road for 50 Models 50 States in 2012. I started that trip not sure what direction I wanted to go in with my work, and by the time I was done I figured it out.
It would have been nice to start the project knowing where I wanted to go, but rarely is anyone so lucky to have the foresight of where there work is heading. It seems obvious to me now.
But at the time I was not really known for shooting nudes in nature. When I was on the road in National Parks I shot landscapes. My work with models was mostly sets, show in cities, and when the city overwhelmed I spent time in nature with Nicole, but we did not create there. In Hawaii we found ourselves, and we found the work that we would become known for. Its a weird thing to realize how many places we could have been creating, but things happen when they happen. For four days we shot in every natural spot we could find, and we both knew we were finally onto something.
The rest of 50 Models I did my best to shoot in as many naturally beautifully places as possible. If I had had the time/funds I would have gone back and redone the ones I had not, but our trip to Hawaii gave us vision of where we were heading.
So in 2018 for my 30th birthday we decided to head back, and see how far we have come. We revisited many of the same places we had seen 6 years ago, but with experience and vision. We also sought out ones we had missed our previous trip.
We have come so far, but I know we still have so much further to go.
