Shooting out of series is fun. It keeps me fresh, gives me new challenges, and I think makes me better at the work I normally do. Just like teaching doing something new is basically a puzzle that needs solved.
While I was in Philly Nicole was nice enough to drive me up to Sambalina's new place. They have this gorgeous backyard with a pool, which is not exactly what I'm known for shooting, but it seemed like something fun for me to do. Sambalina doesn't swim, but she does love Pamela Anderson, so I thought maybe we could try shooting something fun around the pool, and then maybe knock out something for The Jungle as well.
So this shoot was a little more glamor than I do, but it was fun to edit, and really fun to see how my love of color looks in a completely different environment. I think that it works pretty well. I've always been into bright colors, and its amazing seeing how much a few more man made objects in a shoot transforms my editing into something bright and poppy. Nature has its bright colors, but they are sometimes hard to capture, and when you do they can look very unreal. Its neat to see a pool pop the way the lagoon's in iceland pop to see the soft pinks of flowers, or a sea in lingerie.
I get caught up in a lot of the little things when I see a photo. Its a shame we can't all be a part of a physical gallery the only place we could all take those things in.
