Backyard Jane with Kacie Marie

What can I say about Kacie that I haven't said in my many many updates involving her before? I don't really know to be honest, but for those of you that are new here Kacie and I have been shooting for over a decade now. She is my longest running collaborator, one of my very good friends, and a person that always pushes my work in new and exciting ways.

As with all of our shoots we wanted to do something different than we have ever done before, but also still us. Kacie recently moved into a new place with a backyard that has some amazing plants, and great, but very harsh, light. The kind of light I usually run away from, but as we sat back there it just seemed to work. I don't know what clicked, but in my head I just felt like I understood how it needed to be shot to work in post. Long shadows, beautiful dappled light, reflections, it felt like we were in a beautiful golden oasis...completely removed from NYC.

Kacie transforms every place we shoot. Our old run down apartments in Philly, the backyards of those same apartments, studio's too small to call studios, we have shot in a lot of places, but they are always special in the end. I guess that is what a great creative friendship does for you.
