I always wish'd that I could have used natural light in that space, but the way the houses in Philly are layed out in most of the neighborhoods only one or two rooms really get much light, and Temperance was shot in a very dark room.
But it's been a crazy few months going through all of these photos over and over again. Picking out which ones I want to use for both of the books, how I want to tell the story of three years of shooting. Trying to figure out what made this special, and always discovering shoots I did, and haven't shared yet. The way these series grow for me is the most interesting. Pieces of furniture get added, taken away, carpet get's stripped, mirrors get added, and broken, and replaced. I wonder how much of it get's noticed.
Jennifer came right towards the end of shooting the series. During a month where I was regularly double to tripple booking myself a day. Trying to fit in as much in as possible before the end. Trying to see how anyone that was interested would put themselves into Temperance. It was great to finally collaborate with her after a few years of talking about shooting. I hope you enjoy these photos too.
