Finding locations to shoot in LA can be really hard. My favorite spots El Matador and Abalone Cove are typically over run with people, and that doesn't really work for me. I was super nervous about working with Samii and Misty for the first time and wanted to make sure that everything would go perfectly, so I set out looking for a new location that maybe a lot of people wouldn't be at.

I searched around on google maps and found that Leo Carillo Beach was just north of El Matador and I had never really heard of it, or even seen photos there, which is kind of unusual.

So I set out hoping that most people wouldn't drive past El Matador and we would, fingers crossed, have a beach mostly to ourselves right around sunset. Two hours later we pulled up to a mostly empty beach, and I breathed a sigh of relief.

Shooting with these two once we had a spot and good light was an absolute cake walk. In the soft shade of the I rocky shore they posed and we created some absolutely amazing images. I've said it probably in every post before, but I can't believe how talented the models I get to work with are. I am freed to focus on composition and lens selection pretty much entirely as they are such fantastic posers.

For this shoot I shot entirely with my 50mm F1.4 Sigma lens at around F2 I've found that is my favorite amount of depth of field on both of my fixed focal length lenses. Just enough to get from the entire subject in focus and not much else.
