Trying to keep up with editing from the past four months or even my shoots in order has been quite the endeavor. While I was in Sydney Nicole, Ama, Lee Nutter and I road tripped down to an amazing location called Bombo Quarry.
It was a sunny day, so for the first half hour we bounced around shot in some beautifully shaded spots, and then I decided to try a few with Ama in some lingerie she had brought along, and to play around with back lighting using the 85mm F1.4. I love how putting the sun low in the sky behind a subject can create a beautiful rim lighting especially with low depth of field and a lens with good compression. I always go with the longer focal length lenses for this as well because they tend to be easier to minimize lens flare with.
After the sun dipped behind the basalt columns we got some beautiful soft light on the orange moss covered columns. I have been experimenting a lot more with using multiple models in my nature photos, and I'm loving how the results are turning out. Its definitely a little trickier as I think it is really really important to make it about how they both interact with the environment and not turn it into a thing where the viewer just ends up comparing the two models. With all of that in mind I think Ama and Nicole really killed it.
In the last moments of light I saw an awesome spot for playing around with reflection in a small tide pool and Ama jumped at the chance to take the shot.
I ended up using a lot of lenses on this shoot. The Sigma 50mm and 85mm as well as the Canon 17-40mm and 70-200mm. The location let me do so much in terms of field of view.
