Every now and then I do something that doesn't really fit into any of the series I'm working on at the time. Every series starts somewhere, and this one really began with Reed and Nicole back in Columbus. We did something awesome that wasn't quite The Jungle, and I think my shoot with Jaclyb and Nicole really solidified that we are on to something.
When I'm on the road its impossible to shoot for Temperance, but I love eroticism and story telling in images. Something we don't really get to do in We Were Wanderers or Into the Wild as really they are images focused on the landscape, and there is nothing sexual about them, so this series and whatever it turns into I feel like is going to be an awesome way for Nicole and I to continue to collaborate and integrate other people into a new body of work.
And it will keep us sharp and keep us from getting burnt out on one thing. That is the biggest challenge of traveling. As soon as you aren't having fun creating...you aren't having fun on the trip. Long car rides are a great way to bounce ideas for shoots back and forth, and it helps if you have more than one pot on the burner. At least I think so.
For this project much like Ask the Dust I'm focusing on available light, and some new ways of processing. Playing a lot in ACR with the curves color adjustments, and also pushing my black and white processing a lot more. I'm also shooting mostly with the 50mm F1.4, but will more thank likely include the 85mm in the mix now that I have it back from Sigma.
I hope you guys enjoy this project, and lets see where it takes us together!
