Lua, Vaire, Vaega, Circa, Danielle, and Skyhook for Temperance

Some days everything comes together.

I don't really know how last Saturday happened.  I guess sort of all at once.  I had been trying to shoot Lua and Skyhook together as well as set a date for Circa and Danielle, and then it just so happened that we could all do the same day, and Vaega, and Vaire were free and coming too!   I dunno trying to explain how a shoot got booked and planned that involves 7 different schedules is beyond what I'm capable of.

Regardless it happened!

I don't normally do crazy 12 hour days.  I think all of the days I've really held a camera for that long where early on when I did weddings, look books, or fashion editorials.  I've given all of those up.   The stress of clients is too much for me, but the stress of creating with a bunch of amazing people is definitely something I can handle.

My strategy for the day was simple.  Try everything.  If a piece of furniture moves in that room it got moved...a lot.  Stack all three mirrors on top of each other, mirrors on the floor, shoot without mirrors (heresy!), switch to other lenses...I think I did just about everything I could.

My first shoot of the day was with Vaire Suicide, and was a lot more of a normal Temperance shoot.  We shot with some amazing lingerie she had brought, and afterwards decided to do a little bondage harness.   I really really love the way the color of the new rope I got and how it photographs especially criscrossing over tattoos.  The way Vaire posed both in lingerie and tied up was really fantastic.  She has an amazing presence in front of the camera.  These were all shot with the 85mm F1.4 and the Canon 24-70mm F2.8

A little later in the day Circa and her girlfriend Danielle showed up with everyone else in tow.  My goal for shooting the two of them was to really just sort of document their interaction together.  I've wanted to photograph real couples for Temperance for a while, and aside from Nicole and I this was my first opportunity.  I am really really happy with how these photos came out.  I was worried shooting real couples and interactions in the Temperance room would be hard with all the mirrors and studio light, but it actually came together amazingly!  The space and light covers enough, and Circa and Danielle have such a beautiful passion and chemistry for each other.  My job was very easy.

After a bunch of group polaroids and few shots of everybody together I shot Lua and Skyhook together.  For these I really bounced around a lot shooting into the closet mirrors, the dresser mirrors, and not shooting into the mirrors at all, which is new for all of us!  When I first started Temperance it never even occurred to me to shoot into the mirrors, so now two years later it makes sense that I am exploring shooting without them!  Lua and Skyhook were absolutely amazing.  Holding poses perfectly while I beat up from 5 hours of shooting already bounced from angle to angle very slowly.  I'm getting old.  It can't be helped.

Last but not least I finished the night shooting with Vaega!  Vaega said she loved butt photos, so we went out of our way to create the most interesting photos of her butt possible.  I stacked the mirrors a ton for these.  Trying out a bunch of really new configurations I hadn't really thought of before.  It was definitely really challenging as only some of the walls in the Temperance room are actually floral, and I try not to capture too much of the other ones in reflections unless its unavoidable.  Also I now had three mirrors I had to try and keep myself out of for the photos, which was really hard, but we still managed!  I switched between the 85mm and the 24-70mm for these as well, so that I could get some POV without my legs in the shot that otherwise I wouldn't have been able to manage.

All in all it was easily the most incredible full day of shooting I've ever had, and I am so excited to share the results with all of you!
