Slow Burn with Ravyn Alexander

Its getting cold out again. That means its time to turn on the fire place, bundle up, and try our best to stay warm. It also means playing around shooting in front of the fire!

I don't really have a blank wall in the home studio anymore. We've set up book cases, made places for guests to relax, and in doing so lost anything that a normal studio space would have. I've never been a fan of seamless paper anyway, so our living room is sort of the space for playing around and experimenting.

Ravyn and I still had one look to do after we finished shooting for Temperance her most recent trip, and it was just too cold to go outside, so we decided to mess around with the mirrors and in front of the fire place using the modeling light on my profoto's and the Sigma 85mm F1.4. I love seeing how the incandescent light looks with the fire, and the carpet. I feel like it makes the colors pop even more than usual.

It was a bit of a challenge shooting into the large triple mirror as getting the light into place was nearly impossible. I struggle for a while moving it around trying to get the light perfect, but it just wasn't working for full lengths much to my frustration. Finally I decided to just do full lengths in front of the fire to make my and Ravyn's life easier.
