Amber Rose McConnell for Into the Wild

Over the course of a week stay Amber and I were able to shoot in a bunch of different locations in the North East Autumn.  From my backyard to Enders Falls in Connecticut it was the perfect time to be out in nature.  Warm, but clearly not summer we hiked, and shot as much as we could.

Our first shoot was my first time returning to Enders Falls.  I think it is easily one of the most beautiful spots in the North East.  Two years ago after Steven Clouse and I took a trip up there and I have been trying to get back and shoot a model there ever since.  Fortuitously Nicole had a job shooting a wedding about an hour away, so Amber and I dropped her off and drove up.

The beautiful thing about Enders is that the river bank is very high on both sides, so it creates beautiful light in the valley that forms between them nearly all day.  After hiking down to the bottom of the chain of waterfalls we worked our way slowly back up, stopping to shoot briefly at each of the places we had scouted.
I shot all of these photos with the Canon 17-40mm F4 lens as I didn't want to mess around swapping out lenses, and I wanted to capture equal part the landscape and Amber.  I loved the moments where everything came together...the rushing water, the cool stone, and her serene poses among all of that movement.

Back in Philadelphia the tree in our backyard had dropped all of its leaves, and Amber suggested we go out and take a few photos quickly in the golden hour light.  Not wanting to waste anytime we ran down stairs, out the back door, and took a few photos in the leaves.  Its amazing how such a simple location can yield such beautiful photos when the light is right.  These were all shot with the Sigma 85mm F1.4, no lens change as we were shooting the with last light of the day.

The next day we decided to head out to the woods by our house for our final shoot in nature.  Nicole, Amber, Franco and I made our way down one of my favorite trails, and then turned off up a creek, and shot in the shade of a rocky outcropping.  These were all shot with the Canon 17-40mm F4L, and there is a guest appearance in two images by Nicole.  We are looking to experiment a little more with multiple models in Into the Wild as it is something we previously haven't really messed around with.
