I've lost track of how many shoots I have done since we got home from our trip out west. The first day I get back from a trip I have a post trip ritual of panicking that I have nothing to do while I am home, so I reach out to anyone I have talked to about shooting, and then my schedule becomes crazy!
I don't mind though. I like the challenge of trying to keep creating unique images in the Temperance room. My shoot with Hazel and Dangrrr was no exception. Working with Burlesque performers is one of my favorite thing because one pose can easily become 10 different photos. They are so amazing at varying their facial expressions and committing. I know when I'm in front of a camera even smiling feels cheesy and embarrassing, but people who are able to put that aside and go for it always are fantastic to have in front of the camera. Plus the wardrobe they bought was absolutely perfect for the series!
I've started trying to incorporate my little hand mirror that I picked up as an additional way to get interesting points of focus, and as a general prop. I need to invest in more props, I think it will give the series more life, and give me a little inspiration...maybe I'll make this a Patreon goal somewhere down the line. Right now I'm still having fun moving the set around, and varying my lens selection. I'm also thinking about discontinuing Temperance as a digital series the end of this year, and shooting it all on Wet Plate. We'll see. I always have 20 different ideas for what I want to do, and where things could go, and ultimately the projects sort of figure it out on their own, or I figure it out subconsciously.
These were predominately shot with the Sigma 85mm F1.4 and the canon 70-200mm F2.8L IS. These have become my primary lenses for this series as I find that it is easier for me to take photos where I don't show up in a reflection with the zooms. I switch back and forth a lot to get different perspectives and to give my wrist a break. The 70-200mm is probably the leading cause of photographers wearing wrist guards.
