I'll chat about this picture set first then explain the status of Adventures of Alynnya Slatefire comic and all that jazz.

Last week on Top Tier Thursday 81 - Kimiko x ghosts + timelapse , Ranger Captain OrcChief suggested the pic could be a prequel to Kimiko x ghost hands which is a really cool idea! The costumes are a little different but its definitely fun! Around the time I did this paint: Alynnya's Detention Fantasy , KatieD suggested and came up with some details and follow-up concepts about Alynnya's enduring crush on her Esoteric Arts instructor, Mr Omys from Issue 06 (heh, looking at that old issue, my artwork has improved a bit!) This one is inspired by what I can remember from those conversations!

Ok, difficult "Real Talk" part about Adventures of Alynnya Slatefire status. I spent a total of 10 hours trying to get the latest page going and never getting so much as a good sketch. The maddening "blank page" feeling set in and made itself at home. It got to 2pm yesterday (Tuesday) and still had nothing to show. I was getting a bit concerned that I was suffering from burn out so started this "Detention Fantasies" pic as a way of freeing up my imagination and get things going. I kept going back to the comic page and coming up with nothing. I know what needs to go on the page, I know what the page's objectives are - but my brain just don't wanna play along and make the page.

I got to thinking about it and realised that last week when I had food poisoning, I was actually kinda relieved that I wouldn't need to work on the page. That ain't right. Nope.

I've been making this comic for 7 years now. We've had our ups and downs, sure, but I've always ended up enjoying it. This currently feels a lot like the difficulties I had back in 2017 trying to fix the badly written Issue 05.

So here's what I'm going to do - I'm going to take a few weeks off making Adventures of Alynnya Slatefire while I rewrite the remainder of the comic. During that time, I'll make exclusive pics to share with you all. I take this whole thing - making the comics, patreon, etc - very seriously and a delayed comic is only late once whereas a bad comic is a bad comic forever.

Due to the continuing challenges in my offline life, there's been a lot of delays and missteps on my part. I've done my best to fight back and resume the series that you're here for and that show my appreciation for your patronage. If this latest change of plans is one too many, I completely understand. Nobody is more demanding of me than me, after all. I loathe making excuses and missing my self imposed deadlines. If you gotta go, you gotta go, and I sincerely thank you for all the support and everything you've done to keep me going. Every Ranger's support helps me a great deal and the last thing I want is for you to feel short changed or pissed off.

Thanks for reading all the rambles there! While all that might read as a downer and miserable, I'm forever my usual relentlessly optimistic self. I'll continue to work as hard as I can to earn your support, Rangers!
