Patreon security problems

For what it's worth, I agree. The proliferation of an artist's work will drive more patrons (see: money) to the artist, not less. I became a patrons because I very much enjoy Skygracer's product, not because I want exclusive access to it. I am sure many of you reading this feel the same. Spreading the pictures far and wide without charging will bring more like us to his Patreon page. Restricting it will cause less. I believe this will have the opposite of the intended effect.

It's really sad that patreon hasnt taken action to support/protect content creators, and that they're forced to take measures such as this. Hopefully they'll listen and actually take action

I'm not really sure why you think this, Retrograde. It is a few more steps, but I wouldn't call it tedious. You copy/paste a password, download a .zip file, open the .zip file, and there are your pictures. Plus you get the warm feelings that the artist feels safer with this method. Maybe you find it more tedious, and that's fine if you feel that way, but consider that creators have to do the best they can with the nature and hiccups of this site. The only real issue I've ever had with this method is a couple artists didn't send me the files (even though I paid), because I dropped my pledge before they sent out the rewards. My guess is they missed me because it may have somehow looked like I didn't pay, even though I did. In both case, I got my rewards by just PMing to remind the artists. Anyways sorry for long post, just wanted to give my 2 cents.

You will get every single picture eventually, i see no problem here. Besides it should prevent content leaks. I'm forced to do this because of patreon security bs. I have to do this if i want to survive.

I’m really sorry Sky, but this isn’t a good idea. First off, it’s very consumer unfriendly to lock your work behind such a wall. It’s also incredibly frustrating to work with, not only for you, but for us as well. I’ve seen artists stoop to these levels and it pains me to see you do the same, it really does.

Is it still possible to get PNG files in the pm?

I suppose it's too much to ask of patreons to keep older works to themselves... Kinda bothersome to have to deal with all these steps in-between just to keep your work from being taken without compensation.

This is a good method to fight the problem. Even though its tedious, it helps add meaning to your hard work and time spent on each valuable piece.
