Live Chat This Week

Hello lovelies!

Live Chat this week is going to shift to next week (we'll have the Wednesday AND Friday Live Chat sessions next week). We had a snag with a software update to our course migration, and I'm focusing a lot of attention on that today.

Which means my recording day will be tomorrow. 6-7 hours of intense listening and recording on top of a 2 hour patron chat listening to more music is too much for my ears.

Kirk will post a message later this week to Voyeurs and Bladesingers for song requests, and it will most likely be a listening party next Wednesday.

See y'all soon!

Bests,
Elizabeth

ARGH!!! Sorry. This split match became known as an airplane, because it had wings. It was also called a "Jefferson Airplane." NOW you know the answer to9 the question that has probably been bugging you for a long time.

I'd like to add a curious historical factoid, which lead into my comments... Way back in the 60s/70s, getting to the end of your joint was problematic. You didn't want to get caught with a roach cli, as that would bring on a much more detailed search. But, if you had a book of matches, once you lit the joint, you would hold onto the match. As the joint got shorter, the unburnt end of the paper match could be split in two.

Hi Gilles! Thank you for the in-depth description of what sounds like a very interesting singer, Mélanie. Unfortunately we don't do paid-for analyses on the channel. I'll keep her in my mind though!

The Charismatic Voice

Hello Elizabeth, I hope you are well. First of all, thank you for your analyses, they are interesting and funny and I like a lot when you laugh. It’s always a big joy to see you and your videos. I wanted to know if it is possible to buy an analysis from you, and the price, of a song that will be visible to everyone on your YouTube channel ? The voting system for choosing the next song to analyze will never allow this analysis to be obtained because the group from which I am hoping for an analysis is a mega star in Switzerland but not very well known elsewhere. Indeed, there is a family group that I really like because the singer is exceptional and they have values that I appreciate : family, work, kindness, naturalness, joy and modesty. I am convinced that you will love the group and become a fan because their energy and the joy they spread around them correspond to you. The Oesch’s die Dritten are a Swiss “modern yodeling” group, very big star in Switzerland (7 gold records, 2 platinum records and 1 double platinum record, 5 Walo awards (Swiss Grammy Awards) and almost 30 years of weekly concerts). The singer Mélanie has a yodeling that is unique to her and is capable of singing any style of music (yodeling, pop, rock, etc...) always giving the impression that it is so simple and natural to reach her level of perfection. During their concerts Mélanie sings with so much energy for 1h30, 1 to 2 times a week without ever weakening! I always knew that for their songs there is a huge work of the larynx, but during a special concert I could be close from them (at 2-3m) and then I was able to see it clearly, even on the notes that seem "simpler" and it was very impressive. Especially since unlike other singers her performances are as good live as on studio recordings, which is almost unique among singers, and in concert the quality does not drop from start to finish and even increases, especially as the endings in concert are always very dynamic and energetic. As we are in the period of the Olympic Games, if we had to compare Mélanie to an athlete it would be a marathon runner running the marathon at a 100m pace, replacing steps with long jumps, with a few hurdles on the course. Having no expertise in the field, I’m very curious to know if an expert like you would have the same analysis and would be as impressed or even more amazed than me, because you know much better than everyone all the work, mastery and energy necessary for such performances. Many of their songs should undoubtedly be interesting to analyze but the medley https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGexgNKPl0k shows lot of Mélanie's energy and her vocal qualities and is very impressive for most of the people. The song « Metropolitans » https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZ4Ic6p3IiY is a cover of another singer but shows a wide range of Melanie's talents and is less specific. I also made a small montage of passages from different songs to allow you to get an idea of what Mélanie can do as a whole, if you are interested in discovering Oesch's die Dritten https://youtu.be/yCXBdU5dck0 If you listen to several excerpts of Melanie's songs, I have a subsidiary question: I always wonder what a version sung by Melanie of the song "the Diva dance" by Eric Serra (which you know well) would sound like ? What do you think about it ? I would give a lot for a recording not available online of Melanie's interpretation of "the Diva dance" and even more for a version with also the opera part Lucia di Lammermoor. Thank you a lot for all what you do to entertain us with great videos. Take care. Sincerely Gilles MAGNEE
