RWBY – [RED, WHITE, BLACK, YELLOW] TRAILERS!! | SHOCKINGLY GOOD!

This was a Patreon request, Grand Master member Lord Dial!

The moment it started, I'll be honest I was a little worried about what I was going to watch. My immediate thought was, student project and then... It really started!! Haha.

These are amazing but... sometimes can look quite nasty to the eye. However, I quickly forget that when the action takes place which is what these are all about. For what I believe, a one man band projects, these are sublime and I can see why the show was green lit.

I'd love to know, is the show animated to a better quality and does it have action as good as these?

Kai

P.S. So glad I could share the full versions with you guys, The YouTube edit, oh boy I had to do some audio removal on those. Damn Rooster Teeth and their copyright controls. Been claimed by them before on something and had to appeal it, I won that time. Enjoy!!

perfect timing another reactor I was watching just finished the series and I saw this on YouTube and joined the patron for the music so few things yes at first the animation is choppy like that every season it gets a little better so stick with it by season four its full budget secondly only one of those was made by one person alone and it was the first one made entirly by Monty Oum the rest were made with the under Montys instructions next the music is made by one band and one band only specifically for the show and the female voice I believe was like 14 at this time and has recently inherited the band from her father who was the lead at this point moving on rooster teeth was verry accepting of reaction channels and about two or so years ago they would not only let you put this on YouTube un edited but insist it but funnily enough when season nine came out the made a deal with Crunchyroll and the whole show was on there and season nine was exclusively on there but then rooster teeth was forcefully disbanded by there parent company and rwby was up in the air for a bit but now it has been bought by vis media who from all the other reactors I've seen be beaten down by copyright at the moment are very much striking reactions people are still unsure if we will get a finale as the show was planned for 12 seasons at the start we only have nine and the story is very much on a cliff hanger right now but this is my favourite show probably ever the first three seasons are good a bit cheesy but good the third season finale is magnificent and at the time season 4 and 5 got flack for being slow and more story driven but every reaction channel and even me in retrospect will tell you season 4 and 5 are actually good id still call them the worst but you'll see my favourite seasons are 6 7 8 peak rwby phenomenal you have to watch them I will absolutely stick around for this journey so please stick with it if you can and I hope you enjoy it. thankyou if you made all the way through this ramble I'm excited for more rwby.

Re. the voice talent: None of the VAs you heard in this were VAs before working on this, AFAIK. They were either employees at Rooster Teeth in other roles, or basically just friends of the crew. I think one of them was RT's *secretary*, or something like that. But they've all grown into *fantastic* VAs as the series has progressed, and once the show was getting a proper budget, they started bringing in some *actual* existing professional VAs for other roles.

Trivia: In the Yellow trailer, the antagonist twins Melanie and Milsha (sp?) are based on initial concept designs for Ruby and Weiss (the main "Red" and "White" characters).

In the Black trailer, re. your confusion over the ending: You missed Blake asking "What about the crew members?" and Adam callously responding "What *about* them?" That's why she cut the rear cars loose and left him.

These trailers and the first 3 volumes of the show were all animated and rendered in Poser Pro, since Monty was doing a lot of the animating himself, and that's what he was familiar with. IIRC, Rooster Teeth originally brought Monty on board to do custom animations for their then-main series Red Vs Blue--since that series was entirely machinima at the time, they were previously very limited in what they could do by simply puppeting video game characters and clever editing. But Monty'd had this idea bouncing around in his head for a while, and once the RVB stuff went well, RT agreed to help him work on it. The Red trailer was his initial pitch, essentially. They got Jeff Williams to compose the music, and his then-13-year-old daughter Casey Lee Williams did the main vocals. They knocked it out of the park, and have continued to do so through the entire series, with Casey actually taking over primary composition duties for the Volume 9 soundtrack. The series started off with a budget of essentially "the change we found in the sofa cushions", but it's steadily improved with each new volume. There was a BIG jump in visual quality with Volume 4; Monty's untimely passing was a tragedy, don't get me wrong, but it did allow the rest of the team (by this point known to the community as CRWBY, and working from the extensive story notes he left behind) to switch to Maya for the animation and rendering going forward. Without Monty's unique choreography and camera work, CRWBY initially stumbled a bit with the fight scenes, but they eventually found their footing, and later volumes are on par with much larger and more well-known animation studios.

The animation and fight scenes improved a lot in the show, especially in the later seasons. As Noah said, the main animator unfortunately passed away and the show did take a downturn from then imo but the fight scenes remain one of the biggest draws for the show for me

I haven't watched a whole lot of RWBY, but I know it improves. The final thing they did before Rooster Teeth went down, was a 2 parts movies with DC comics and the Justice league and wile this movie has a tons of problems, it's an easy sort of comparison of then VS now especially because of its self contained quality and how lots of people who don't know RWBY enjoy that movie

The quality of animation does indeed improve, but it still looks rough sometimes in all honesty. However, I love this show, it’s a fun ride all the way through. Be warned, the main animator behind most of the show and its fight scenes sadly passed away, and the fight scenes especially took a good hit for a while until they found their bearings again.
