Great video as always. Really looking forward to Valhalla. I saw you didn't know what Mimir's comment about the hole meant during Brok's funeral - Brok gave Kratos and Mimir a riddle on their way to forge Draupnir, "what gets bigger the more you take away?" - neither could figure it out, and Mimir's realization during his funeral is the answer to the riddle. If I may recommend another game to check out, Red Dead Redemption 2 would be an interesting one. It's very big, but is the only game that puts as much effort into cinematography as God of War does, and thus would be interesting to hear your thoughts on it. Cheers!

2024-11-27 00:37:01 +0000 UTCIt was said a few times already, but you really need to check out the other previous GoW games before Valhalla. You'd just miss out on too much otherwise. In my opinion, you need to check out all 6 previous games, not only 1-3, as, even if not as prominent, even they get somementions and attention, some callbacks in the Valhalla DLC. So, GoW 1-3, Ascension, which plays before 1, and the two smaller PSP spin-offs, Ghost of Sparta and Chains of Olympus. Even if not for Valhalla, even they tell more about the general lore, but also more stories about Kratos and his past, his previous family. And technically there even is another entry for GoW, called Betrayal. A mobile game for the old, old generation of phones, before the smartphone era, iirc, released shortly after GoW 2. So, imagine a resolution of about 10x10 pixels ^^ And technically, it also counts as canon. So, GoW Ragnarök actually is the 9th entry in the franchise. I think you can skip the mobile one, though :P still, recommend checking out the other 6 games. And an important side mission of Ragnarök, needed to fully understand the start of the Valhalla DLC. SPOILER, it's about Tyr.

2024-11-25 17:51:02 +0000 UTCI'm not sure if you cut it from the video or if it was left out of the original, but during the fight with Heimdall you actually perform 2 initial volleys before hitting him on the third. The impact is more of a "Yes! We hit him!" rather than a "Gasp, he's been hit".

2024-11-25 14:28:55 +0000 UTCWith the Valhalla DLC I would honestly say you should watch the original trilogy first because it include a lot of Kratos' backstory and I believe you would benefit from knowing that story beforehand. Also you asked about if you find the real Tyr in this game and (SPOILERS IF YOU WANT TO PLAY THE GAME FIRST). There is a partif the game where you dind out what happened to him. It's not too ceremonial and impactful to the story but he does have a part to play in the DLC which I reckon you might want to watch his reveal first. Been loving the content 👏.

They can’t help it and they always tell on themselves and it made me stop and think something is off about this Tyr guy 🤣 and it is now so obvious on my second play through, there are just so many hints

2024-11-25 07:11:00 +0000 UTCZeus was absolutely more powerful than Odin, by a lot. Kratos is just old now (roughly 1,000 years old) and he also doesn’t have the very potent fuel of rage that he did when he fought Zeus. At least, that’s my take on it

Brok is giving riddles to mimir and they bring a lot of attention to it. But it's just extra content not in the DLC after you beat the main game I believe you are able to find him. Or maybe it might just be locked until you find out that Odin was Tyr the entire time. I actually haven't played the DLC I know it's free so I don't know what goes on in it

I believe you said you’d play this game so you’ll find the important things you weren’t shown in this reaction but a Valhalla reaction could be botched by the wrong video you react to. In addition to all the things that are the focus here, what always blows me away about God of War is how good each and every voice actor is. They just knock it out of the park from start to finish, and I don't think there's a weak performance among them. I have to imagine it's been asked before, but will you ever do Arcane now that it's 'complete'? Either a breakdown of interesting scenes from the whole show, or just a reaction to the whole thing?

I've been learning 3D animation and sometimes I can produce something that looks near-photorealistic and other times it looks like cheap rubbish. I've realised how much of that comes down to the lighting, so listening to you talk about how the differing lights work in a scene is really helpful.

But its such a great moment, as Brok gets one over on the "smartest man alive," and its played entirely for laughs until it gets quietly forgotten about. So that moment when Mimir finally gets the answer after the funeral is a real gut punch. I'd also recommend listening to "Blood Upon the Snow," just to complete the ending. Its a really fantastic closing piece of music for the game.

2024-11-25 01:49:38 +0000 UTCAt the end of Brok's funeral when Mimir says "A hole", its not in the video but earlier in the game when traveling with Brok he stumps Mimir with a riddle, "What gets bigger the more you take away". There are a lot of references to it during gameplay moments so its unfortunate that it wasn't in the video since thats a somber way for Mimir to finally answer, all coming full circle.

It shows a lot of the hardships behind game development, where the story inspiration came from, and to me, the way they chose to tell story of the development is quite inspirational. It truly think you would love it.

Go back and watch his intro scene at the table and you'll notice he only sniffs the mead - never drinks it. And then Odin drinks it later and says Thor is no fun anymore; which could mean lots of things, but it is right after he drinks the mead Thor abstained from.

Leaving out a lot of details that you had questioned, but was explained in a part the creator cut out...and seeing that they cut out Sindri's solo entrance was wild. Understandably, not cutting out some of the details, it'd be so long that you'd end up needing a part 4 lol. But, on the bright side, I guess you have more to look forward to when you play yourself. But definitely disappointed with some of the cuts the creator made.

2024-11-24 22:05:32 +0000 UTCAbout the subtitles saying Odin before he turns from Tyr to Odin: the subtitles also hint that it's not been the real Tyr all this time by spelling his name every time he speaks as Tyr, while when others mention him his name is spelled Týr. Essentially a hint throughout the game that people wouldn't notice if they had subtitles turned off. Not that too many people noticed it even with subtitles on, haha.
