NEW LOOK FOR HALO!
Added 2024-10-07 23:24:35 +0000 UTCJust heard the news about Halo Studios and the future of the franchise. When I first saw the above image, I thought it was a real toy. Very bright on the levels on the chief make him look like he's made of plastic.
For fun, I decided to apply a cinescope look, the 235.1 Aspect ratio mask and give him a cheeky Low Key lighting look to make it feel more grown up (second image). If I had it in a proper colour grader I could do a better job but I wanted to spend a few minutes on the still to show what heavy contrast, stripped colour and a cinescope aspect ratio can do.
What do you guys think about the Halo news? It made me very excited when I watched the small vidoc on it.

There's loads you can do to the final image but I was mainly looking at the use of shadows/contrast. I always mention it in videos and thought, let me show how different the feel of a game can be just by pushing the shadows and pulling out the colour slightly.

2024-10-08 06:06:17 +0000 UTCThat looks amazing, good job. What a fantastic visual difference and just goes to show how important lighting and art style is. If I were to change anything in your edit I would make Chief's visor slightly brighter with gold accents and illuminating the energy sword.
