Alchemy / Crafting - Manual

By acquiring materials and recipes you can craft items that will help you as you play. You learn the basics of alchemy from Yenay shortly after you and her are introduced.

To craft, visit the left side of the hut and click on the obsidian pot there. You will then be able to create items based on the recipe you choose as well as the materials you currently have at your disposal.

In the upper right you can see the # of materials and the # of recipes you currently know. Be sure to set your recipe, otherwise you may lose materials when you attempt to craft.

In the bottom right of the screen are the materials available. Click on one to load it's info so that you can inspect it. Click 'Add Item' to add it to the pot. Each synthesis can only hold three items, so if you make a mistake choose 'Clear Slots' in the upper right to empty the pot and start again.

Each recipe has a specific requirement in terms of what is needed. For example:

Here, you need a Green Herb and any item or items that have categories of (Organic) or (Bone).

In theory, if you possessed a single item that met all of these requirements (A green herb with the categories of (Organic) and (Bone) ), you would only need to use this item to perform the synthesis.

In general there are two considerations when synthesizing, whether a recipe calls for a specific material by name (such as Green Herb) or whether it calls for an item by it's category. In the second case, any material can be used as long as it matches the required category.

Once you've set your recipe and selected the materials needed to create the item, hit the craft button. You'll either be greeted with success and your new item or failure.

In the future, once Bai's alchemy skills improve he will even be able to remove traits from materials in order to craft items more effectively.
