That's right, Claire and the others have lied sometimes about her past to keep her secret safe, when she said that, she was actually trying to scare our hero telling him that her father was a powerful man, however hiding the real truth. There are still more things about her and her family (as like many other characters) to be revealed in upcoming episodes. There's much more to come.
