Expander with a built-in port on the left (from 2014/2015) and another with remote port on the right (from this year 2020)..
These are both my expander shells and I posted a third style of port in the previous post..
With the built-in ports you are injecting saline directly into the implant and with the remote ports youβre injecting into that small part that is connected to the implant with tubing.. Myself, I prefer the remote ports as with the first type from years ago I was setting off metal detectors at airports all over the place (though this may not happen anymore).. I kept getting asked to strip off my top half to show security (privately of course but it was still a pain)..
This stopped happening when I switched to the remote ports and also when I had issues with the port later it could be removed without having to replace an entire shell, which is easier and more cost effective..
Someone asked if the ports can be felt.. With the inbuilt ports I felt nothing at all even at the beginning as theyβre completely self-contained, whilst with the remote ports I did feel pain for about a month, but usually nothing later on, unless they were actually pressed on.. One of my expander ports did flip over and that can be excruciating, but itβs not very common..
