I haven't been able to work on LEWD much lately. I planned to get a beta release done this year, which seemed like an easy goal at the time since the vast majority of the engine is done and I just need to touch up and rewrite some content. By beta release, that is to say to transition out of alpha, and make it no longer require keys to play. But this has just been a really shitty past 6 months of my life.
-Fixed a time mismatch between my servers that could create the original issue that was causing people to not be able to link accounts -Decreased timeout time when there is a problem. -Fixed an issue where it wouldn't correctly re-lookup new pledges when they aren't initially found, and that it wasn't correctly returning an error for non-patrons. -There's now better errors when there are errors, in addition to those fixed errors above
My power is currently out and I don't know when it'll come back on. It's taken 2 weeks for it to come back after previous hurricanes... So yeah. Don't worry I'm safe, and so are backups. I just have no way to work on the game right now.
edit: Everything is okay. ^^ My power wasn't out too long. I've just needed to clean up and work out some insurance claims.
You should be able to link your Patreon account to your LEWD account by entering your Patreon account email address at http://www.playlewd.com/account once again.
That will give you test server access as long as you have an active pledge and confirmed payment.
Due to limitations of the Patreon API, it is now only possible to look up the info for account linking if someone is a current Patron. So for those that have c...
I'm having issues with getting Patreon's API to do all the things I could do with my bot and it takes a while for their support to get back to me. Their API doesn't seem to be very well documented.. :(
Since people still can't link accounts and this is holding things back, I'll sadly need to suspend the Patreon again this month so people aren't billed again. Those who are current Patrons aren't going to be charged at the end of this month.
So firstly, account linking is broken at the moment. It wasn't something I can fix quickly. Patreon's API lacks features needed to fulfill pledges for LEWD, namely that you can't use it to get *past* pledges but only current ones. Which means if someone paid money, but then canceled their pledge, to the Patreon API they no longer exist. So... instead I have a bot that scrapes the pages. Well Patreon changed how login works, so the bot couldn't log in to do that. And in trying to c...
Let me know if you still have problems. Sorry about that!
Looks like the server had gone down for some maintenance with my provider, which happens every few years. ^^ I'll remind myself to get those services auto-restarting in the future.
I fixed a server crash bug and a bug where you couldn't move around or anything which prevented interacting with any content outside of the scenario when you first enter the game. Game should be playable now.
Hey everyone. Like I alluded to earlier, I was going to suspend the monthly charges that Patreon does to you guys for one of these months. That'll be this one. I've been setting up my new computer and had other things going on, and just couldn't hardly get anything done with LEWD this month.
Since I couldn't get much done, and Fulca hasn't added a ton of content this month either, and there's plenty in the fund to pay for writing, I'm going to have it not charge you guys for this m...
I noticed the main server was crashing. I put up a hotfix that will stop the crash, but there could still be a lingering issue that causes someone to get stuck instead. Please report this if it happens, though I added some debugging logging that may find it just as people play as well.
I would have liked to have a significant update out by now, but there's been things getting in the way of me completing what was planned. I've gotten a few things done that I'm waiting to post in the update notes when I finish the update, but not nearly as much as I should have the past 6 weeks. It's definitely been too long since I've given an update, and I don't feel I've been delivering enough lately compared to before.
Because of this: after I get the next update ou...
While most updates to the game can be done without taking it down, I need to make some core engine changes to implement seamless reconnects which requires taking the server down as I update and investigate how things are working with said updates.
I don't know exactly how long it'll do to complete these updates, but a few days at least.
In addition to getting the game polished up more for the Alpha3 release, I've been working on polishing up the site itself better.
One thing that's been pointed out a few times, is that the old dev tracker page was a bit of a mess. Especially at times when there's a lot of updates, and especially when one bit of content/scripting is updated repeatedly in the same day. 2017-01-26 15:40:42 +0000 UTCView Post
Hey everyone! There hasn't been an update on the game for a while (I mentioned earlier that there wouldn't be much going on until a bit after the holidays were over), and since we're just now getting back to work on it more heavily, the next update will take a bit.
Yeah, this is long. Lots to go over!
As for myself, I'm working on a new system "under the hood" for dealing with things like status ailments, and various temporary and permanent effects on players. The way it worked in ...
I know I mentioned it in the previous update, but I thought I should reiterate in its own update.
The holidays have been super busy for me, and I needed a bit of a break. Our writer has been adding a bit here and there, but he's busy with holidays as well.
A very significant update should get finished up and come later in January or February.
Sorry it's been a while. The past few months have obviously been slower development than before. Having another writer would help, but we are chipping away and working toward a major update.
I'd have liked to have update notes out on what I've been working on and I'm almost finished with, but I don't know. It was hard not to read all the salt about the recent election the past few days, tbh. It was really distracting.
I should have something in a few days still, though, but since it's been a few weeks I wanted to give you all a heads up.
There's not going to be any major client updates until next month. That said, there has been a lot more content added to the test server since the last major update, which you can see on the Dev Tracker.
There are some performance issues with the dev tools that make them annoying to use, which I need to look into.
There's also other things that can make them annoying to use, like rearranging scenarios doesn'...
Hey everyone. I had reports of something happening before where text would seemingly be describing your character as nude, except it'd describe their body part as clothing-covered.
I think that's fixed now, but if anyone can can you play through on the Test Server and see if you find similar problems? If you do, please report them on the forum. I think I have that all fixed and I'm not seeing problem...
Hey everyone. A hurricane is going to drive by here so I may be gone a few days. I don’t think it’ll be very serious, though I’m still expecting to lose power for perhaps a few days.
Once things look fine, I’m going to be investigating the engine bug that sometimes creates and issue with clothing, and can cause other problems. I don’t know how long it’ll take to fix. It could take days to find the root cause of the problem and patch the issue. Du...
Hey everyone. Just thought I'd give a heads up on the content being added.
If you've checked the dev tracker on the site, maybe you'd have an idea, but Outpost 833 is being reworked a bit with a lot being added.
One issue with how it is currently is there is a bad end that just sort of railroads the player, and isn't very interesting. We're working on making it a much more interesting bad end, and potentially escapable, with different choices and such.
Hey everyone~ I just wanted to give a heads up, since it's been a bit.
The writer left on the team is still working bit by bit on some new content. You can get an idea of the updates on the tracker: http://www.playlewd.com/tracker
There isn't a whole lot of serious programming left for me to do with the engine. There's just that one bug left that creates the problem with clothing, that I'm going to be looking int...
So.. it seems like something got messed up with the Patreon "chargeup front" thing and their CSVs, which are basically text tables of the Patrons data.
My bot parses those CSVs to fill out people's pledges and totals on this site, to give them access to what they should have.
Well.. Patreon has this horrible bug where the "lifetime" amount listed for people on the CSV doesn't update when they are charged in the middle of a month when they initially pledge. It only does so on the re...
This isn’t the Alpha3 release yet, but I wanted to release this part of the update early as it now makes the game playable for those that don’t have a computer or browser good enough to support WebGL.
It should start with the fallback CSS3D renderer and automatically switch to WebGL if you have support for it. And you can toggle between them in the settings to use whichever you prefer. There are also various efficiency improvements to both the building of the star map initially, and the...
I'm not ready to bring around the third Alpha yet, but I wanted to release this update now of something I was working on toward it since some of the improvements to rendering are important.
Following this update, the next thing I'm going to be working on is getting the alternate non-WebGL renderer so people with lower end computers, or without WebGL support at all, can play.
The next major update, Alpha 3, is going to focus around solving connectivity issues that some experience, including reconnects, and an alternate renderer for lower end computers and because Mozilla won't fix their WebGL issues and some simply can't run it well.
There is of course a bit of new content planned, as well, but I'm still working on finding a new writer or two to help speed that along. If you know of anyone who may be interested and can h...
