Dev-Log: V0.5 Combat & V0.4 Release Status

Hi,

today I packaged V0.4c, the official Patreon Release. I still need to update the walkthrough and do some last tests and then I can post the version for download later today (29th, one day early)

Regarding V0.5, I integrated the combat system code into the main game code today.

I added all the shields, torpedoes and cannon subsystems and items and also a torpedo launcher subsystem (see screenshot). It comes with up to 6 loadout slots, if the Subsystem is fully configured.
The torpedo loadout needs to be actively done before combat to be able to use them.

Once Khelara is onboard, you can also assign it to her to buy torpedoes and to do loadout automatically prior to combat.

Next step is to adjust the gameplay in combat, code the system damage during combat and the reward-rolling when cleaning up the defeated wrecks.

Concerning V0.5 status, I'll post the dev plan and release plan tomorrow. Early Access will start for VIP around Mid April.

Definitely there is more in store for the bot lab. Cosmetic addons (hair colour, physique...), bot functionality (military upgrade for infiltration missions, ...) For V0.4 I barely managed to get the base module done time wise, so I had to shelve some ideas. In V0.5 your best three bots can also be stored in the multiverse pod (=carry forward to new game versions)

Building bots in the lab is such a great way to add longevity to the game. I realize that whole aspect is pretty new, but more variability in bots would add even more. Are there plans for things like different faces or hair styles/color, or variable torso asset sizes? Hair style or color might even be something the user could alter at will without needing a new bot part, but tying it to the head part could also work. Different faces and eyes would be neat, as well as different asset sizes as mentioned. A variety of unnatural skin tones might be fun, too, but matching parts might be too much of a pain.

Looking forward to testing it out.
