Werewolf Boyfriend: Ezra 2 (special preview)

Since your family lived close to the Naval base, Ezra had met with them quite a bit. It was a regular thing to meet with them, have dinners, hang out. But you still hadn’t met any of Ezra’s family. You had talked to his mother on the phone a few times, but nothing beyond that. It was hard to travel to his family’s place too since it was literally across the country.

So when the opportunity arose, you both decided it would be best to move closer to his hometown. Most of your family were career Naval officers, so travel for them would be easier. It would also work out better for you since there was a local college there as well. You’d be able to finish off your degree and Ezra would be close to home. He never let it on, but you could tell sometimes he was homesick. He talked to his family quite regularly, and you often heard him lamenting about not getting to participate in at home traditions.

Ezra was a werewolf, and that came with strange new territory. Being out at sea isn’t exactly the usual place for such creatures, but it was something he wanted to do to honor his grandfather so he made it work. Luckily he did or else you never would have met him.

The plans to move were set, and Ezra’s family was all but happy to help find a home for you to move into. Ezra’s mother sent you pictures almost every day or houses she was visiting. Ezra was still busy finishing things up with work and getting through his last few days, so aside from glancing at some pictures, he left the approval of the house to you. You then had a week off together just to pack up the trailer you rented. You were excited, as you had mostly lived in military housing all your life. It was going to be nice to live in the woods, in a quaint little house that didn’t look cookie cutter in the slightest. It would also be your first time living on the west coast.

“I am not looking forward to driving for so long,” Ezra bemoaned as you made a stop before leaving to top off gas and buy some snacks.

“You’ve been on a ship for weeks at a time before,” you say, stuffing a cooler with peach sodas.

He makes a face somewhere between grimace and a sneer. “That’s different. You can move around on a boat. You can get out of your room on a boat. In a car? You’re trapped.”

You smile, trying to hold back your sarcastic comments. “We can make stops.”

“Yeah,” he grumbles. “Still.” He finishes filling up the car and puts the hose back. “I don’t like being cooped up like this.”

“Even with me?” You hop into the car.

“I get cranky, I don’t wanna snap at you.” He takes the passenger’s seat.

You smirk as you pull out of the gas station. “If you do, I’ll just slam on the breaks and make you hit your big head against the window.”

Ezra gives you a puppy dog pout. “I have a big head?”

The drive isn’t so bad, you’re used to long road trips. Your family took them all the time, at least six times a year depending on your dad’s work and what your mom wanted to do. You also knew Ezra, so when you could see him getting antsy, you’d try to find somewhere to pull over so he could get a breather. It did stall the trip a little bit, but you did have some fun at a few of the stops. You were lucky enough to find hidden gemstones, like niche diners, strange boutiques, and a couple of tourist attractions. Going through Georgia, there was an entire town that looked like a German village, but it was such a cliche tourist trap too. But Ezra drank too much at lunch, so he passed out for the remainder of the trip.

You arrived at your new home and you have to shake him awake. He grumbles and grunts, eventually coming to. “Are we here already?” He looks up, rubbing his eye. “Wait, what’re we doing here?”

“You passed out as soon as we drove off. This is our new place. I told you we would be stopping there first.” You get out of the car as the front door opens.

A cross look comes to his face. “This isn’t our new place,” he says. “You must have gotten the addresses mixed up.”
