Super Mega Important Poll

As you all might know, we have been working behind the scenes on the new RPG. You might also know about how we ran into difficulties in trying to make the RPG with the same high detail look that the Glimmer Deck has, and that it turned out to be WAY more than two people could handle.

So...

Instead of scrapping our story ideas, settings, game play ideas, etc. that we've already spent time coming up with, we are still moving ahead with the RPG, but using a different visual style.

A retro-style, top down sexy cyberpunk JRPG, if you will. Think NES, SNES, Genesis era RPGs. Doing the game in 2D with that style (which we are super fans of!) is a much more manageable task for such a small team. It will still take time, but it's totally doable, whereas the high-end style we'd planned for originally is... well... not.

Based on public and private feedback we've got, we understand that not everyone is totally into that particular style of game (we certainly are!), so before we put too much work into it we wanted to ask you, our lovely patrons, what you think. Are you as excited as we are to play a really cool sexy cyberpunk 2D retro JRPG?

And/or...

In 2010 we released a game called SexSim. If you're not familiar with it, check it out. It's pretty cool. It's similar to FLSM: Glimmer Deck, in that you can create characters and then they, uhm, have sex. It's not sci-fi based, though, and it does have a bit more, I guess, personality(?) than the Glimmer Deck has, in some ways. It's also a lot less high detail and thus more enjoyable and feasible to work on from our side. Again, take a look. :)

Anyway, we have been wanting to create a sort of spiritual successor to SexSim for a long time now. Something similar but with newer ideas, a newer style, and, well, a lot more sexy fun.

We can work on two games at once, so that's a possibility. We could do the RPG and the newer SexSim style game. If we do that it would of course mean more time between updates for each game, as we'd be split between the two of them. But it is possible.

And let's not forget...

I'm still plugging away at the Glimmer Deck, of course. Due to the high definition/high detail style of the game and its framework, it is taking longer and longer to create updates for it. Every thing I want to put in requires a tremendous effort to make sure everything else still works properly.

It's not an easy game to work on, and that's why it takes a lot more time between updates. Anyway, yes, I am still working on it when I can, but as we've moved forward with newer projects it's been less of a focus, as you know.

Okie doke...

With all of that said, we'd like to know what you think. What do you want to see? Please vote to let us know!!

Thanks so much for your continued support!

that was something we had in mind, for sure. :)

Ripened Peach

I'll choose the 3D Game. I think if you try to do both, at once, you may face some burn-out issues. Just my opinion as a fairly toasted ex-programmer-- for 25 years. Good luck and take care of yourselves.

Rick Noah

As an alternative, perhaps some things accomplished in the RPG can be entered as codes to unlock things in the other game?

GarGhuul

Do what You feel for (like best) doing. Glad to see you up and around ;-)

clauskj3r

The Glimmer Deck already has it, if you're looking for it right now.

Ripened Peach

Which games are going to have m/m content?

Artem

Thanks for replying. This change of direction might hurt your patronage, but I believe anything made from a negative place can only take away from a positive experience. Id rather you be mentally/ physically in a good place creating and updating, than for you to be in the suck and slog through just to get it over with. I appreciate the honesty and though some people are salty, keep your collective heads up and bear with it.

Rhubarb bunny

thanks for the explanation of what you're looking for.

Ripened Peach

yeah SexSim was made in the old days when micro-transactions were still new and interesting. Anything we do now would very likely not have them, for the record. If it did have them, patrons wouldn't have to purchase them, of course.

Ripened Peach

Also looked at sex sim havent played it yet but Im not sure I like the store. Ive had enough of micro transactions in other games and I really dont want that to be a thing for long standing patrons at the very least.

Rhubarb bunny

So I understand your want of an rpg game, not sure if smut is first or second in your priority, but assuming its at least a priority; I wouldnt mind 2d exploration but for interactions make them animated different angles and such. Doesnt have to be glimmer deck levels of freedom bit a few choices of positions angles and good animations/variety goes a long way. And this could apply to more than just sex, could be combat or puzzles. I guess a good example would be recent fire emblems, moving around is 2d but scenes and combat have animations and are fluid. Side note, gallery option would be awesome, and cg cut scenes are lame. Not to discourage artists or anything, but I hate going through a bunch of hoops to be rewarded with 1 picture with 3 edits leading to nudity. Now I hate meet n f**k games but way better quality and less gimmicky scenes kinda like those would be in the right ball park.

Rhubarb bunny

Thank you for your support! We do love the 3D stuff, that's for sure.

Ripened Peach

Could you give any examples of what you mean by "interactive" 2D scenes, so I have a better idea what you mean?

Ripened Peach

thank you for your support, we appreciate it very much. :)

Ripened Peach

I think I have an idea what you mean about the sex scenes in RPG Maker type games, but could you give some examples we could look at to be sure?

Ripened Peach

Ok. But why not wait for more patrons? Theres gotta be other things you can work on, in the mean time? (Also, going to bed, so can't reply until later.)

Even

Yes we did, which is why we set a particular monetary goal for when we would start the RPG. That goal was not reached.

Ripened Peach

i hate to be rude, but... didn't you know what you where undertaking, when you started?

Even

If I understand what you're saying... Are you saying that you would like to continue patronizing us, as long as we will make a 3D RPG, even if that takes a very long time? Even if we never reach the goal to actually start releasing updates that have RPG elements in them (410 patrons)? Please note that we made a post in June of 2017 that said that despite our best efforts, it just wasn't feasible for a two person team to make a full fledged 3D RPG, and that we were going to have to rethink things. If you missed that post, I do apologize, but that was 9 months ago. We also ended up pausing all monthly patron payments in November last year while we tried to figure out how to move forward. It was only this month that we turned payments back on. How many other people reading this would prefer that we stick to trying to make a full 3D RPG, even if we can't really start working on it in full until we reach that 410 patrons mark? If that's what people really want, then that is something we'd like to know.

Ripened Peach

I really really like the 3d of this game so I hope the two of ya can get the support ya need, also if it was possiable, I would totally help some how, but for now ill just pledge my 40

michael avinger

(the caps aren't meat as SHOUTING, just emphasising words) ADDING stuff, is ok. but making a 3D game, a 2D game is not. you DID say you where making a 3D game, and saying NOW, that you are gonna make a 2D game instead, is a borderline scam in MY opinion. (in my opinion) that's kinda similar to buying someone a loaf, when they wanted whole grain. it's the same THING (loaf and whole grain both being bread, like 2D and 3D games both being games) but not the same, and not what was said or implied. i would rather wait longer for a game, than get a game i DON'T want SOONER!

Even

Thanks for your thoughts. In all fairness, we have levels of support (goals) right there on our front page of this Patreon that we've had since the beginning. One of those levels was the one where we would start working on the "RPG-like elements". It was at 410 patrons. It says: "When we hit this goal we'll be able to start introducing RPG-like elements, new environments, animations, characters, and more." That didn't even mean a full fledged AAA high level RPG, it just mean some RPG elements. Regardless, we never reached that level. Never even got close to it. What we've been working on is exactly what the level of support we're at allows us to work on, and what we said we would work on based on the support goals reached. What we have now decided to do is start the RPG anyway, even with the low number of patrons, but do it in a way that we actually can. The level of support we have right now is not enough to work on a full RPG of high detail 3D that would take even a team of 50 people a year or more to make. I disagree that we have been scamming anyone. We were honest up front that for us to even start on the RPG, it would take a certain support goal to be reached. We never reached that goal. Again, thank you for your patronage and thoughts, but I wanted to point that out. No promises have been broken. We've been doing what we set out to do, and what our goals reached allow us to do. Being a patron of a team means that you are supporting that team in their creative goals. A goal is not a promise. It's a goal. And we've made very clear from the beginning the fact that until particular levels of support are reached, we can't officially start on those particular goals. I'm sorry if you are disappointed, and I'm sorry if you've not been interested in updates that we have been doing and have done.

Ripened Peach

To be completely honest, no. Because: that is not why i give you money. Changing something THAT big/significant, when people have been promised a DIFFERENT game, AND paid money for it, i think that is borderline scamming. If you do that, i doubt i will continue my support, and probably ask nicely for a refund, as i have spent quite a bit of money on this, for no gain, as i don't really look at the updates, i pretty much just wait for the game to be finished. You shouldn't promise something unless you KNOW you can deliver! I know that is easier said than done, but it shoukd be the FIRST point to check off! I think you should SERIOUSLY think about this, and what it means for, not only the potentionally drastic decrease in money you will recive, from patrons, but also the REPUTATION damange, you will receive!

Even

Unless the 2d game has good interactive scenes im not into it.

Rhubarb bunny

To be honest to switch now to a 2D project will be a big disappointment to us supporters, at least to me. The whole reason I started to support you guys is that you've done something amazing that beats what is out there in the market already with a very small team, please keep it up.

Jack

I'm really torn. My impulse is to say "make both games!" but I realize with a small team (2) that's just going to slow everything down. Is there some way in the 2D RPG to make the sex scenes more appealing? (Maybe something like what a lot of RPG Maker games have with an overlay.)
